hey everyone,

So my local ski shop has told me that they'll sell me a new pair of Pocket Rockets for $400 (Can) - they have been mounted once so they do have drill holes, but have never actually touched the snow.
What do ya think? good deal or no?

Sounds like a fairly reasonable but not great deal.

I have a pair of 185s with solly 912 binders and lifters that I might be willing to part with. They've beeen skied hard but I'd let em go pretty cheap.

Just curious, why were they mounted but never used? Was it a mounting screw up? Did the have to replace them for a customer? Might be worth finding out.

BTW, the majority here does not likr the PR, but I like mine just fine. For me, it is a great all around resort ski.

Despite the fact that it's cool to hate PRs, I know plenty of people who ski them a lot and love them. FWIW.

Sometimes shops have gear mounted for demos and then never end up renting it out. Now they're "last year's ski" and they'd rather sell them before they lose all value. Doesn't hurt to ask though.

I admit that I love my PR's. There, flame away bitches.

This sounds like a mismount scenario to me.... I would: 1) check to see how your mount interfaces with how the ski's already drilled....i.e. make sure there aren't going to be issues with needing to move your mount forward or back to keep the new holes from being too close to the old holes. 2) Negotiate for a cheaper price...shit, they've been drilled. A ski that's been drilled is not a new ski...period.

listen to jerry:

You know the sound the can makes when you open it...that's the sound of you buying the whole can.
Kind of like how when you drill the ski it's officially no longer new.

edit: $400 canadian. duh. removed part about $400 being way high.
