AT Boots for Alpine (i.e. Rossi Enduro)

Trying to reduce my gear stash somewhat, and faced with the growing need for AT boots and a definite need for new alpine boots....I'm playing with the idea of a one boot does all.

The Rossi Enduro boot got a great review in the most recent Couloir as a boot that could be such a compromise:

"With the Enduro, alpine skiers now have a boot as comfortable riding lifts as it is ram-rodding through chunky snow or muscling down a couloir. In fact many on and off-piste skiers, this may be the only boot you need and could replace many alpine setups".

Aside from that review, I'm worried that something like the Enduro (or maybe a G-ride?) would be underpowered pushing around my NKO's or Super Nobis's at the resort......yet I dread doing another 3 hour scramble over rocks in my alpine boots to access Bloody Couloir :o

Aside from the obligatory "spread the love...get both" comments ;)......does anyone have any experience using a "burly" AT boot for both?

I dig the idea a lot, but am not sold that there is a one-in-all that really is at the level that I would expect from a boot right now.
I like the new Adrenelian (sp??), and the Enduro hasd been getting good reviews. The Enduro just doesn't look structurally all that solid of a boot. I don't like the buckles on the current model, and don't think the materials would really sustain the kind of abuse that I expect a boot to go through.
I have skied on the regular soft's not the Enduro's and was pleasantly surprised, but in no way ditching my reg. boots.

Thanks. I hear ya...I have the same concerns. Despite the awesome reviews, it's still a soft boot design which concerns me. But then again, Splat was saying how Brant Moles was killing it last winter in Poland while wearing a slightly modified Rossi soft boot (I think Brants boot was profiled in a sidebar in the Gear Guide)

One of my friends rips everything on his Lowa Strukturas and loves it. Then again, I have soe strukturas that I would not trust to drive my NKOs. IMO, the single boot product is not yet on the market. Perhaps a modified product could do it all.

I was hoping someone would chime in on that, yes Moles was sporting the soft, no it is not the same boot that's available. That's lame. Your first attempt into the market is half-assed, I don't agree with it. Right now the product is like old Rosii/Crispi teleboots, soft (leather) foot and a hard cuff.
I would rather they give you the real deal, were not talking about a race boot, it's an AT crossover.
I think the market is there, a manufacturer just has to commit to it.

I have a friend who's done what you are contemplating; eg only using an AT boot, he's in the Garmont G-Rides, and swears they are 100 times more comfortable than any alpine boot, and ski just as good...

I'm jealous, my Scarpa Lasers are really comfy, but I can't stand skiing hard in them, they throw me way back...

It's L-O-V-E. I can't get enough of them.

Back to the boot thread: In this or last years powdermag gear guide, there was a Dalbello boot (perhaps Plakes?) that had a walk mode switch. I haven't seen or touched it. I think it has a DIN sole, no vibram, but it might be an option.

Thanks all for the replies....I hadn't seen the thread that Arty posted about the Adrenaline. Can't wait to see that sucker in person....In the meantime, I'll just continue hiking in my alpines, and trying shit on ad nauseum.

Check out the Salomon Ellipse series boots. They are DIN and have 3 buckles with a laced up liner. They have a walk and ski feature and you can actually ski hard in them. I got a set of the 9.0's and they rip for skinning and hiking. Best part is that you can put the liner on then put the boot in walk mode then slip your foot (with liner on) into the shell, buckle it and go. They fit pretty damn good too.
