unfortunately not drunk. I always considered a whore someone who you pay for sex, where as a slut is a girl that just gives it up to everyone.

Storm came down south to the San Juans, precip. all night turning to
snow some time early am. I like the crappy Colorado snow pack,
seperates the men from the boys!

Boy, I.
I'll take an Intermountaintish Maritime snowpack anyday (e.g. central OR, eastern Sierra, etc) over our sketchball CO whore-ridden beds...

But I'm still stoked to see this storm coming in! :D

kailas
10-09-2005, 08:19 AM
I like the maritime snopac but in Europe, when they get pounded that is. ;)

Rontele
10-09-2005, 08:49 AM
Reading the reports this morning, looks like the storm is digging further south than previous runs. Still going to be a good upslope component this afternoon into evening and overnight, but the models are hinting that the low level flow will be more N/NW, which will push a lot of the heavy precip bands to the east of the urban corridor.

First snows are always exciting. Be safe everyone.

So much for biking the Ned today.

But that is not at all a bad thing.

"Monday: snow. 90% chance precip.
Tuesday: heavy snow. 80% chance precip." (For Ned, that is)

SICK. :yourock:

compiled noaa forcasts show don't count your chickens just yet if you want the snow actually in the mtns

i think the frontrange is getting more snow than anywhere else... probably only 6-10" around summit/grand/clearcreek... 5-8" for lake/eagle...

the actual frontrange frontrange is going to get this one. noaa says boulder could see more than a foot and golden/evergreen could see 18"

Eldora Zone like the place to be if you want the turns out of this...

But then moving East shows more snow... ie even going from eldora to nederland shows a predicted increase of 7-12" to 9-14"

then again what good are forecasts in the mountains?

Ha, 5 in the afternoon and there is a good 6 plus in my yard right now. About to head out to a super secret grassy slope to make some turns. Tommorow sounds like jones/berthoud if we can get there, if not maybe some skiing around loveland. I would wager I won't be out for a dawm patrol but sometime in the am. I don't think I have seen it snow this hard in town in 3 years.

Wow! That didn't suck this AM. Easily 25-30" of pow up on Loveland Pass. Managed to get 3 laps in with Powpig, Blurred, SheRa, and Evil E before heading into work. Tomorrow is not gonna suck :yourock: . Snow was letting up a bit. Can't wait to see powpig's pics.

 :yourock: :yourock: :fmicon:

Again... seconded.

P.S. Funk, where are you located? I would LOVE to make some turns (If I can find a ride... I could take the RTD to Denver if necessary). I should be done with my lab today around 3. Send me a PM with details.

Nice.

Details mang....how was the coverage? (snow snakes present?) Did you guys lap via hitching or do some low angle stuff from the pullout?

Coverage was pretty damn good for early October. Down low there were a lot of logs and the occasional snow snake, but overall pretty nice. Lot's of wind effected slabs forming on northerly-northwesterly aspects. Winds were howling hard.

sweet. Wish school wasn't so important these days. We were at the basin for our refresher yesterday and it was puking all day. Including when we were out doing the lift evac... damn those metal seats were cold! I-70 westbound was plugged, we had an ok drive home after idaho springs. Fellow patroller drove his jaguar up and got stuck in silverthorne... couldn't make it up the pass, missed a wedding on sunday night. THink he'll check the weather next time before driving that thing. ;) If I'd had skis with me, I would have wanted to stay. Ah well. I have next WEdnesday off if it snows again.

Its been snowing for 40 or so hours here in the elks. Any one have any plans round these parts in the next couple days. I am most likely going to see how montezuma basin did with the snow.

I hate you guys. I can't even see the mountains from my office in Boulder cause of the foggyness, but I know they got snow on them. Can't wait to see what you all were playing in this morning. Bring on the pics, and wait to get at it this morning.

I'll second that it was good up at loveland. Got up there around 10 and ran into blurred and evil. The best oct snow I have skied there in a long time. Up top was wind effected pow up to knee deep or so, bottom was good early and got played out around noon. Took one lap down the west side. Not bad up top, more wind effected but less snow snakes. Bottom was heavy and lots of bark. Not really snowing much when I left, lots of wind, but did look like it might start snowing again.

edit: come on guys, I could barely find all my ski gear, let alone a camera

Glad to hear you can make it out tomorrow. Give me a ring tonight. I have to put a bouldering wall proposal together this afternoon for a 4:30 PM presentation and cannot concentrate. Screw climbing, it's time to ski! I will get my ass beaten by my boss, but I have a case of the powder flu.

ISki, you royally suck. "I have to put together a bouldering wall proposal... but its time to ski"... I'm sitting here at work wondering if I should complete the TPS reports or stare out the window at the snow. You've got it tough, my friend.

Don't wanna use a day for early seasons conditions. I have many trips to Utah, Jackson, and Montana down the road.
