A 30/30 would be a good rifle for that little guy (maybe a little overkill.) I don't have a 30/30 so I would use my 16 gauge shotgun if he was in close range otherwise my .22 would work.

ONS - What would you use for cyotes? I used my .22 for a cyote in my yard from about 20 feet. It went right through him. Next time I'm using hollow points.

I take it my 6mm mauser with full metal jacket ammo would be a little overkill too. Saw a lot of those guys at Jax. Still haven't got up close and personal with a moose yet. Love mooses.

Full metal jacket bullets are designed to wound more than kill which is why the military uses them. (The enemy will likely go retrieve an injured soldier thereby basically taking the rescuers out of action while they are retieving the injured) The full metal jacketed bullet will simply pass through the animal rather than break up like a soft point or hollow tip would.

They wouldn't let me shoot the thing at the indoor range, said it could pass through backstop. Its the same kind of rifle Kennedy got shot with, Italian carcano. Convinced them that I would only shoot 2 rounds, fuking canon. Gunsmith said its a piece of shit, bolts tend to disengage, killing the shooter. Haven't fired it since.

I have shot the carcano. It was mainly used in the italian(i think) military. The vertically rising clip is a pretty interesting design, and pretty hard to find, where did you get it.

I'd have to agree with Owens, it'd be a huge window in him.

A Ruger Mini 14 is one of the best varmint shooting rifles. It shoots a flat trajectory .223. You could easily knock him down from a few hundred yards away.

I don't plan on it. Would like to be able to get a range permit for some handguns. Here in NY its almost impossible, they do a background check back to when you were born. Got a 45 carbine thats fun to shoot, tends to jam though. Florida was great, a drivers license and you can walk out with a 44 magnum Desert Eagle. Very scary.

The Desert Eagle comes in 357,44 mag, and 50 action Express. Best thing is the gun can be converted into any of the calibers by changing a few parts. Fun for the whole family. fyi. A long summer this will be.

mfi, I wouldn't touch a 1891 carcano with a 3 meers long pole. We lost a war with that as an equipment. Our army has been on Garand M1 since 1946 until the late '80s...
Now, a nice Garand M1, or a Winchester lever (30/30 or even revolver ammo)

Going to Vegas next sunday. Plan on hitting the shooting range where you can rent machine guns. Think a couple of clips in a Thompson will do the trick. Finish it off with some 44 mag. Interesting way to blow a hundred bucks.
