Poll: Vote for the Utah Mini date

Altachic is now in charge and I am taking a backseat, going into retirement as organizer of the Utah MINI Summit, which is now really the annual Utah Summit.

So, this is the deal. We are going to keep this short and sweet. 4 weekends to pick from.

Since we do not know when the Summit is, we are going to hold this anyway on the majority vote. Some like to hit Utah instead of heading to THE SUMMIT or do both. The Utah Mini Summit is usually a lot cheaper and we are in close proximity to many mountains.

And since Red Baron is just not as good at his job as we would like him to be to forecast some storms for us, we are randomly picking these extended weekends.


All dates are Th-Tu, with main groups usually skiing/riding on Fri, Sat, Sun. Plus travel day in and out.

Sure, that is why I put up 4, it was going to be three choices. Figured if people want to use the holiday as an extra, then maybe.

But I do have a feeling it will be one of the other weekends.

Well, I don't know if I can say that I'm in charge because of the new postition I took at work...meaning I won't have as much time this season as the past few years.

But, I will make sure the dates get nailed to one of those weeks and I'll ask that Buzz posts the links to places to stay and what not!

This is going to be fairly mellow. I can ski the Fri-Sun, whenever we do this. We should all meet for drinks on those days and maybe get together for a party like years past.

This is the Utah mini, Buster, not the official summit. I think the idea of dropping the "mini" is due to the usual high turnout for this thing, not an attempt to usurp power from the proper summit :)

EDIT: maybe my inner product is zero. Buster might have been asking why one of the dates interfered with the W/B summit. In any event I can't really vote for one date over another here. I may make it or I may not depending on other factors.

I am in SLC on Jan 13-15 for a ASCE civil engineering conference and then skiing for a few days after, but I can't afford to stay a whole week and then some for the January summit opition. I'm going to vote for the march opition.

Hmm, don't think the Feb dates will work since that's during the Olympics and I am trying to go. Jan is likely the best for me but given the craziness of sundance it might not be an option either. I guess what I'm saying is don't count on my vote since everything is up in the air. ;)

If I remember correctly, Gordy intentionally did not hold a camp during the mini (or Buzz planned around the camps) for logistical reasons....er something.

Bag, I was concerned that Gordy may not want a bunch of us rolling up on the campers and pros teaching them. I would love to see maggots use restraint on this, out of respect for the camper that paid money for excellent instruction and for Gordy, who is making a nice business out of Straightline Adventures.

Last year I talked with him and he said whatever. I have not talked to him yet, but if you are here for camp, you are busy. If you are here for the Mini and see them, please heckle, moon, do "The Point", ask for change, flip em off, wahtever, but please, do not poach. Ski by, but have some fun with em. :biggrin:

I spoke with Gordy last night and it is looking promising that he will have a camp at Alta that Fri, Sat, Sunday. It will be a normal camp, not a maggot only camp, as his Feb schedule simply works out that way.

It is in the planning stages at this point as we only spoke yesterday, but keep up on his website. I will ask Gordy to spam away once it is set.
