I live near Milford, Batavia, Owensville, and I ski at PNS. I was wondering if anyone skiied at PNS that lives around me. If so, I could pay you a little money for gas to get me there and back.

So it turns out 50 goes right through Owensville, which I live 3 minutes outside of. I only got to go skiing 6 times last year, because my mom (I don't have my license yet) had to drive me out there, and she wasn't to stoked about that. How often do you go to PNS? It would be awesome if we could work something out.

Well shit ArfroMullet, didn't expect to run across anybody who hits up Mad River and Snow Trails on here. I live in C-bus, teach at MRM and ski at Snow Trails every once in while. Although, as of last season I have been spending quite a bit more time on a plane....showing up to work tuesday really, really tired :FIREdevil

Good Luck finding a lift Lineskier - do you ride with any of the guys from Freezing Point?

Wow, I wasn't sure if anyone on here were regulars to the Ohio/Indiana hills.
I frequent PNS because I live in Indy and PNS is closer than Paoli or MRM.
I bought my silver pass (a decent buy if you get it early) for PNS. They gave 3 extra days to pass holders because of the lack of snow for a bit last year.
How is MRM in comparison to PNS?

My opinion is that they are very similar. Nothing really stands out in memory (which is old and slow) saying while at MRM hey! PNS did/n't have this.

Holy shit, I didn't know that there were actually other people from the midwest on here, let alone people that ride at PNS. I've been skiing there for over 10 years now, hit up MRM a few times a season as well. I've got a full pass to PNS and usually make it out there 2-3 times/week. Only on weekdays though because the lift lines blow on the weekend (except on the all night sessions when you can watch all the drunk rednecks eat shit). :yourock:

Hey SnowRider4Life- How do you make it there 2-3 week? I need your job. The only time I can make it is on weekends (I live in Indy). But you're right about the carhart crews. Last year, a group from Purdue was trying to get em to act like I was part of their group so they could get the group rate. Problem with that is I already had my Silver Pass.

I've got the gold pass and work my 9-5 Mon-Fri job in the Hamilton/Fairfield area so it's only like a 30 minute drive over there. I usually just head over there straight from work and get in a few hours of riding on the weekday evenings when there's no one there. It's great being able to just lap run after run without ever having to wait in a lift line, but then again it's still only Perfect North. I refuse to go there during the day on weekends. It's nothing but gaper dodging and 20-30 minute lift lines.

When I go on weekends I go early and leave early. It hasn't been too bad using that method. It sucks that it takes longer to ride the lift than to go down the hill, but at least I'm getting some time on the sticks.

You're right about the gaper dodging though. :cussing: On every run too.

Cracking me up. I know too well. The brown carhartts were always favored because they had big inside pockets to hold 2 - 4 cans of beer and your chewing tabac.

I learn to ski there. We were family season pass holders for about 7 years in a row.

YES! Same strategy for Sat and Sundays: In line for opening bell. Out of there at 12:30.

I walked up Center Stage occasionally and got first turns in. A guy named Bill (if I remember his name correctly) used to do it nearly every Sat or Sunday. He had bright orange technica boots. He was one of the original ski instructors at PNS when all they had was .... The MEADOWS!

Enjoy! It is a great place to get started and enjoy out-of-doors in the Winter in Southern Ohio (my bad, afterall PNS is in Indiana).

I also learned at PNS and have been skiing there for about 12 years now. I got a late start and didn't start skiing until I was 15, but learning to ski well on ice made a huge difference when I was finally able to get out west and ride on real snow. Every time I go anywhere out there I end up meeting a local who compliments my skill and asks me where I live. It's great to watch their jaws drop when I say Ohio.

As far as weekends at PNS go, if I ever go it's to one of the all-night sessions. The crowds aren't nearly as bad and I've had plenty of time to recover from Friday night's activities by then. ;)

Awww, c'mon! That's the most fun part of it. Of course, up until April '05 I could have qualified as a gaper......

I knew I could breath better after crossing the Great Miami on I-275.
Just did not realize it was Indiana's pure air and clear sunshine.

Any bets on when they open? I'm guessing the weekend before Christmas...

Last year they were able to open with just one solid week of snowmaking and they've upgraded their snowmaking capacity again this year. My only fear is that there's the possibility of rain this weekend. My optimistic opening day would be next Friday.....my realistic side is telling me 2-3 weeks. The week before xmas is usually when it happens, but then again they haven't been able to make snow this early in the season for awhile. I'm just hoping the skis I burned for Ullr will do the trick.

From what I have read they started up the guns to test the whole system out, especially because they put in a lot of new pipes and they did have a pipe burst. They also made a pretty good amount of snow last night. The easiest place to find out whats going on is on the Freezing Point forum (http://forums.fp32.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl).

In July, police in Lawrence, Kan., gave Ezekiel Rubottom's foot back to him, convinced that, contrary to a neighbor's inquiry, it wasn't evidence of a crime. Rubottom, 21, had tried to explain that he'd had his clubbed left foot amputated and merely wanted to keep it as a memento in a bucket of formaldehyde on his front porch. A spokesman for Lawrence Memorial Hospital told the Journal-World newspaper that there have been "women that want their uterus ... people take (home) tonsils ... they take (home) appendixes." Rubottom added a porcelain horse and a can of beer to his bucket to make it what he called "a collage of myself." [Lawrence Journal-World, 7-26-05]

Swerve, Glad to hear Miami still has some skiers besides the kids wearing their North Face to the Stadium or Brick Street (I think thats what they call First Run now). Do you ride out at Hueston Woods at all? Have you met biker bob yet?

Ohhh Yeahh. Is the Freshmen Class up to standards this year. Enjoy Miami. Women in the real world look nothing like they do at Miami.

How is Mac N Joes?

Have you been to cirlce bar and seen Darryl the bartender yet??

Have some Bagel and Deli for me (Sarah's Secert or the Conrad Bagel is where the shit is at).

Perfects opening the friday after Thanksgiving is looking like a real possibility if we dont get any rain but it is still pretty much up in the air right now. The 10 day forecast looks promising though.

lebowski I fucking cant stand all the kids walking around in North Face everything(fleece, jackets, backpacks). Im on the sailing team so Im out at Hueston woods and I did meet the guy that owns the bike rental place, he seems pretty cool. The ladies are still looking as good as ever and I know what you mean, whenever I leave I realize how good all the ladies look here.
What was your major?
