Does anybody know anything about the K2 Axis X from last year? Gart Sports here in town has a few pair for $200. I was wondering if they might be worth picking up. Currently my no-new-snow ski is the Head SuperCross Ti and I love it, so I’d like something comparable. All I know about the X is the dimensions are 107-70-97 which are close to the SuperCross.
Thanks for your input. Searching brought up squat.

I have not been on either ski, but I do know that the Axis X is the softer version of the X Pro. (at least 01/02's model) I skied the X Pro and it is a decent ride. .

i got a pair of them in 180, there pretty good for cruisin around in soft snow, i ski them in the backcountry at crystal also and they get around just fine. at this point though they are too soft for me when i wanna turn it up a notch, they got really chattery when i was maching down early morning hardpack corduroy on whistler mountain last year, thats when i decided that as soon as i could afford a longer, stiffer and fatter ski the axis will become the rock skis. as much as ive abused them they could already be considered that.

my sister (no you cannot have a picture) demoed them about a year ago and liked them until high speed, at which point they were overly unstable.... it was a day with no possibility of new snow...

Thanks! Chattery at high speeds means they will no longer be considered.

dude. i was just looking for old reviews on the k2 axis x. i have skiied mine for about 4 years now and i love them in all conditions. not sure about the other postings about high speed chatter. i have been using mine for racing and find them to be stable at high speeds and even forgiving. i race a modified slalom course that has a bit more gs type turns. this ski moves. i am looking for a bit more speed so i just stepped up the rossignol 9x world cup fis skis. hope that helps you out a bit. i am thinking about picking up another pair of axis or moving up to the k2 apaches.

2 K2 Axis X's flex softer than one Head Supercross Ti.
That is all.

Owned the Axis X Pro a few years back and really enjoyed them. The Axis X (non-metal version) is...meh...mediocre.

I had the Axis XT which was the forerunner to the Apache Crossfire and has the same dimensions. Very user friendly and a great all-around ski. I do believe that K2 switched from the Axis series to the Apache series a few years back and those skis may be more than a year old.

Stick with the SuperCross Ti. Great ski. During a slow day in the shop a few years back I skied every length from 160 all the way up to 195. No complaints.

Nice, bumping a post from 4 years ago. I'm guessing he probably made a decision on whether or not to buy the skis.
