Keep the Sollys?

Local shop had Salomon 912 ti bindings for super cheap and he offered to mount 'em for no extra charge. I went to another shop to see if they'd match that deal for some Look P12s, and he wouldn't even make an effort to come close (even gave me shit cause I didn't buy my skis there). So, I grabbed up the Sollys.

The thing is, I've only read about the Salomon binding, but I've never ridden them. Looks on the other hand I've had on a couple pairs of skis and I love 'em. Would it be worth my while to try and find a deal on Looks, or should I just keep the Sollys?

supposedly some sollys have problems w/ switch landings b/c of a reduction in DIN for the toe piece with downward pressure. but if thats not an issue, mount em.

Ive got old 950's i think...DIN to 10 on my jib skis and I haven't had any problems with that

or is that only with the new binders??

The whole landing switch shit is due mainly to the mis-adjustment of the toe piece. Typicall consumer adjusyt would be so you can just see light under the toe piece, or a 5mml, piece of plastic. The newer Sallies with the spheric system are more prone to pre-release, get around this by tightening the toe heigth more than usual.

And a similar question for the Ibex Neve... How's the fit? I like the Arc'Teryx fit a lot. But the Ibex should be more breathable since it doesn't have a laminate layer like the Windstopper in the Arc'Tery jacket (or that's what the soft shell purist at Second Ascent told me).

End of season, looks like both jackets can be found on sale for about $150.

IIRC, it's actually 0.5 mm, i.e. half a millimiter, and that's for the spheric system (what you got). You can get the Salomon shop manual at the Salomon certification site (http://www.salomoncertification.com/cert/logon.jsp).

You are the Mang! I'd been looking for that website for a while now, my comp crashed a couple months ago and I lost that file, it is always a good thing to have around when you own 4 pairs of the suckers
