Grange

I recently took a trip to the BWCA between Minnesota and Canada. We went into Canada through Cache Bay to get away from the crowds.
I was there for a week (June 5 to June 10). The weather was quite cold most of the week. A couple of mornings were in the 30's and the days I doubt broke 50.
The temperature and rain were one thing, but I was prepared for that. It was the wind that made for tough paddling.
We had to go to ranger station in the middle of Cache Bay and the wind was blowing perpendicular to the canoe.
The water had whitecaps which often shot water into the canoe. This certainly wasn't the worst conditions I have experience up there,
but it also wasn't a lot of fun paddling in those waves.
My father just starting Silver Falls portage, which is 130 rods (I think 1 rod = 16 feet).

Silver Falls from up up river. It is a 30 foot falls. This is from our last day, which of coarse we had clear skies.

Fishing wasn't great, but what we did catch usually were nice sized. My father and sister and their two walleyes.
