Sooo, The Shoe and I went to a local race league yesterday evening....

I thought I was in decent physical condition after having communted by bike from Sacramento to Davis a couple times each week for a few weeks and having gotten faster each week (not to mention doing a couple weekends with sequential 4000+ foot bc days). Wrong! I sucked bad.

Downieville is going to kill me. Also, I managed to loose the bolt that secures the shock to my rear triangle and not notice it untill this morning? WTF How do I not notice?

Winning isn't the most important thing, it is the only thing!!!!!

You got out there and did it, that is what counts. You aren't doing it for a living and you are competing for yourself. Hope you had fun.

The results are up..... NateR with a stellar 16th out of 16 ( I swear a cramped calf, and missing bolt from my suspension had to have been the cause not my lack of conditioning).

So you're saying that I might finish Downieville ahead of somebody? Schweet!!

Depends on how well I can whip myself into shape. I swear I'm not really that out of shape compared to all of the others in that race.

I had a similar experience last year. I've spent my life on bikes but never really raced (a couple times in high school). I enter into the Sport class thinking I would be a sandbagger in the Beginner class. I proceded to get my ass handed to me. I'm just not a racer I guess.

I also think there are a lot of sandbaggers that trickle into Sport from the Expert/Semi-pro class. 95% of the Sport field in my case was riding for a team or had some sort of sponsorship.
