Wrong island.
Jaws (Peahi) is on Maui.
I have seen Jaws go off, and it is sickter beyond belief.

Also, on Maui, there is an entire town called Haiku, though no one there really speaks in Haiku rhyme.

the night we got in (friday), there was a nice south swell dying out. paddled out to no names and ala moana and realized my shortboard wasn't gonna work. went and grabbed a 9'1 and rode queens beach for a few hours. typical waikiki - longboard, looooong waves, rainbows, warm water, etc. so nice.

on the north shore, i surfed at pupukea (right out front). a bit hard to get used to head high waves breaking in 3 feet of water. came out of the water bleeding from the shins a few times.

So what's the North Shore like when the waves aren't going off? Most people I know really don't dig Oahu that much - granted, they don't get past Honolulu, they say it's basically just another big city. Never been on Oahu other than in the airport to connect to Kauai.

Love Kauai. Real laidback, non-commercial mostly.

since i've never been there in the winter, i don't know how it compares. i guess it's just more crowded. it was perfect when we were there. you'd go out on the beach in the middle of the day and be the only one there.

honolulu could get annoying at times (traffic's horrendous), but we kind of expected it to be.

Da reef starts here, goes all da way dere. When da wave breaks here, don't be dere or you gonna get DRILLED!

waimea bay

This is Waimea?!
It's flat today so we can go snorkelling. The reef affects the shape of the wave, but when you hit the reef, it affects the shape of your head.

Please tell me you and Mrs Tuffy went to Club Hubba Hubba and ordered a $20 glass of champagne.

Let me know if you're up for a surf at M-Beach this Sat morning

"Saturday morning looks to be a hair smaller, but there will still be head high plus sets with some bigger waves mixed in. It also appears as if some South swell will be in the water as well. This mix of swells may create some good peaks at the best combination spots"

You might as well move back to the land of surf. You don't ski anymore anyways. :D

Hmmmm...will be in SoCal this weekend. Debauchery is on the drawing board.

That summer swell ain't even a ripple compared to what comes out of the north in the winter.
