......and now I have a new addiction.
Took a lesson on South Padre (the dude that taught our lesson said it was a big day for that area) and I can't stop thinking about it. Very fun......ended up wearing myself out for about 7 hours after the lesson on some shitty rental board, but it was definitely a good time. Antbody know of any west Coast towns that will be needing firefighter-paramedics in the next year or so?

Heh.
I'm not a Texan, I was just visiting there.
I'm from Michigan.
Ouch.

Was "Blue Crush" you inspiration?
Welcome to a lifelong addictive sport. Gonna give the Great Lakes a try? They break.

Yeah, actually, Blue Crush was my inspiration, how'd you know? :p
I have heard of people surfing on Superior and Michigan, but I have no idea how to access these spots..........If anybody knows where and approximately what time of year (I've heard that late October-November is one time) that'd be good to know.

Some surf is better than no surf.

So apparently nobody bothers until after Labor Day, which means it'll be cold as shit...................which means i better get a wetsuit. I found some other sites too, there is apparently a spot about an hour from me, and it makes sense now that I've looked at the map a bit.
So, uh, what should I look for in a board? Obviously a Longboard will be what I need, I'm about 5'9" and JONGtastic in my abilities.
The one I rented was foam on the top. I gather that this is not ideal?
Thanks for the help, by the way. :D
