Just a warning. I ordered these poles for about $35 thinking they would be comparable to my old Goodie composites that cost $40 more (hey, i thought I found a smokin' deal) . I took the cheap way out and got burned. These poles look the same, but are heavy as hell. They're heavier than any aluminum poles I've used. Now you know. Buyer beware.

But they will never, ever break.

On the other hand, they are heavy (I have an older version). And Goode pole baskets suck: I'm on my fourth pair after breaking three pair and having a tree rip off the fourth.

Still looking for the idea ski pole...

Durability wasn't in question. My old Goode's lasted 8 years before one snapped and they were WAY lighter. I'll try the new pole this weekend, but will probably buy something else soon. This time I won't skimp.

Did you get these off of REI?? (Thanks for the heads up if they are.) I think i saw them for sale in this weeks add. I too need new poles. I broke one of my Goode composties at the end of last season, currently being held together by duct tape.

Didn't get 'em from REI. Ordered them from untracked.com. If REI is selling the G-Max for around $35 or $40, it'll be the same pole. I figure the light Goode's start at about $60 or $70.
