is there any spots around here? im going here over the summer for a week with my family, so i cant really travel any other surfing destinations closeby. by close i mean in another country. but back to the point here, are there any surfable spots, and surf all together? its not known as a big surf spot like Tamarindo or Costa Rica, so im sounding like a jong right know. anyway, any info will be appreciated

The whole country is pretty much protected by a barrier reef so I would be suprised if you find any surf. Good Luck. There is great diving there!!

yea, after doing some research they rarely get a swell that produces waves. has anyone been here, and where is the spot to do the snorkeling/diving?

Can't remember it off the top of my head, but if I'm not mistaken it is among the three largest barrier reefs in the world, no? (with the others being in Australia & the Grenadines)...anywho, my family has sailed with this company before (Grenadines & BVI, unfortunately not Belize :( )...and their site usually has some cool things to do while you are there...just some food for thought

2nd largest barrier reef in the world. Leave the surfboard at home, and bring the scuba and fishing poles, the fishing is unfucking real!!!

also, stay the fuck away from belize city!!!

By the way, make the most of this trip, Belize is high on my list of places to visit. I think the reasons listed by Blurred are sufficient enough, and the remoteness compared to other sailing destinations is appealing (as long as you are a competent boat mechanic ;) )

you may wanna check out sweetwater key - I stayed there a few years ago. 50 bucks a day gets you a room, breakfast, lunch and dinner. That key has access to great snorkeling and fishing. When I was there we hired a local captain to take us out on the reef to different diving/snorkeling and fishing spots. Also stayed at a place named kittys that was inland near Placencia? we rented a house for a week there and it was supper cheap. While at kitty's place we hired a captain named James that really hooked us up :D (you know what they say about the breeze in Belize) When you fly into Belize City do not go into the city just hire a frog hopper and fly to somplace like Dangregia or Placencia.

I've heard that you can surf at Glover's Reef (google it) but its probably not very good and its an expensive all inclusive kinda place.

yeah. from what i gathered, it breaks VARY rarely-less then 3 times a year when everything is aligned right. even when it breaks though, it still sucks. it is also very pricey, as it is mostly a touristy all inclusive place
