I loved my north shore rack from day one, but it was always pretty sloppy. And after 2 years of use, it bounces around way more than desirable.
So two quick fixes (one quite a bit quicker than the other), and we are solid as a rock.
I put two steel plates from the outside of the trailer hitch housing on the car back through the main two bolts on the rack. 1.25" wide x 3/16" thick. Then a 3/16" shim on each side and you're good to go:

Then replaced the movable pivot pin with a 1/2"x3.5" bolt:

Cut off the bottom to reduce the bottom outs:

And i'm back in love. There is zero play in this now.
