So much fuckin' drama with the announced Sabbath reunion now taking a bad turn due to petty squabbling. Bummer for those of us looking forward to it.

First, Tony Iommi was diagnosed with cancer and has just begun chemo.
So the band relocated to London to continue the recording there where Iommi is getting treatment.

Now Bill Ward has released a statement that he will not be taking part until his contract is renegotiated.

I am unable to continue unless a “signable” contract is drawn up; a contract that reflects some dignity and respect toward me as an original member of the band.

Sabbath responded with this brief statement

We were saddened to hear yesterday via Facebook that Bill declined publicly to participate in our current Black Sabbath plans...we have no choice but to continue recording without him although our door is always open... We are still in the UK with Tony. Writing and recording the new album and on a roll... See you at Download!!!

Bill Ward's son responded with a statement of his own defending his dad

I realize the music biz is what it is, and right or wrong, it's not gonna be like the old days when Sabbath began and everything was split equally among the 4. When the Page/Plant tour happened in the 90s, everyone including myself wondered why John Paul Jones wasn't on board. Well the story came out that he expected the profits to be split equally among the 3 like in the old days but Page & Plant weren't having any, so JPJ declined. None of us know exactly what the deal is here but Bill Ward obviously feels dissed by whatever contract he's been offered, and it's a shame that what should be a triumphant reunion is being derailed by money squabbling by a bunch of rich guys. I could be wrong, but I smell Sharon all over this. :cussing:

well, that's a shame. sharon certainly has a hand in it but i wonder if there are still some conflicts between the members and how deep they run. i signed the petition but i don't think that will stop the tour from selling out. i've seen them twice before, would love to see them again. but without bill ward it will definitely be somewhat of a letdown.
