these are a few books and movies that come to mind. the books are in order of how i would rank them (ie. exellent, great and good).
Trempers book--Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0898868343/103-5179943-9268624?v=glance)---excellent read. very complete.
Snow Sense (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0964399407/qid=1105221740/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/103-5179943-9268624)---great first avy book. an introduction and beyond.
The ABC's of Avalanche Safety (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0898868858/qid=1105221812/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-5179943-9268624?v=glance&s=books)---good starter book. i'd still recommend snow sense first.
Winning the Avalanche Game (http://www.wasatchtouring.com/bcstore/page16.html)---a little older but still relavant. buy a book first.
video-- Think Like an Avalanche (http://www.bdel.com/gear/backcountry/avi_vid.php)---good video but not nearly as complete as any of the books.
Educational Link (http://www.uoregon.edu/~opp/snow/avalanche/aval_lectures.htm)
feel free to add reviews of these books/movies and add to the list. that is what this thread is for.
