I headed to my soon to be new home of West Yellowstone this last Wednesday. My wife has been there for the last month since her job as the Accounting Manager for three hotels in town needed her there ASAP, while I get to hang out in 90 degree heat, try to sell out house and finish EMT school.

I'll focus on the fish, and not the blown out rivers that produced Jack and Shit.

Started things out with a nice Brown on Hebgen Lake. He was full of piss and vinegar and took my into my backing a couple times.

Followed by a Whitey, which was actually my first.

The next day we loaded up a couple boats, and formed a convoy over to Idaho to hit up Henry's lake. It was one of the best days of fishing I have ever had. All we did was watch bobbers over the top of some Chromonids. It was such a nice change to be able to just hang out, drink beer and land big fish. Here are a few of the pics, we barely scratched the surface of what we actually caught.

My wife making sure she doesn't miss another one.

Double, we had about 5 of these, and one triple.

Its a tough life being a dog.

Thats all for now. Hopefully I will have lots more where this came from after I move in August.

Congratulations, this is probably the best place in the world for trout fishing. The crowds in West Yellowstone can be a bit much sometimes but you can get off the beaten path on tribs to the Hank and Maddy and have untouched water and wild fish all summer long (especially when summer doesn't show up til July and is over before labor day). You are far more likely to see a moose than another person. Cliff and Wade lakes would be packed if they were near a real city, but here, they are always quiet. In the fall, the rivers see noone but a handful of locals who don't hunt. The volcanic spring water creates diverse bug hatches too awesome to describe, have fun discovering it. If you have bear spray or a .44 and like to hike, pm me about backcountry fishing. I need another bear aware fishing buddy for the upper Fall river watershed.

I have both, and practice with the reloadable one often. The plan is to hit up Cliff lake in a couple weeks when I am back up there. I am SUPER pumped on the move, between the skiing, and fishing, its a dream come true. I can't think of a place that is more perfect for our life style. I'll be in touch for sure once I am up there fulltime.
