I bought a float 36 a few years ago and its a great shock, but i think my Rocky SXC would really benefit on the climbs by getting a fork with travel adjustments. Any suggestions?

Not possible. I called fox earlier this year and asked the same question. Apparently the cartridge is a different diameter and has different threads.

Apparantly you can convert a Talas to a Float by swapping out the cartridge which I plan on doing with my '11 36 (~$70). I assume I would be able to swap the Talas back in when I decide to sell it. If the above is true interesting that they are different. Need to double check all this with Fox.

I have a 09 Float 36 RC2 that I wanted to put the 11 RLC cartridge in. I called Fox and they said no go. Apparently the 11 forks have different inside diameter and different threads where the top cap threads in.

I think the OP was mistakingly referring to the Talas cartridge and not the RLC damping cartridge which is in the opposite leg of the fork. Do you mean TA or RLC? If RLC, then you don't want that anyway. Your fork works much better from the sounds of it with the RC2(Low/high speed compression). The '11 RLC I do not like(nice small bump compliance=huge dive, and vice versa, can't get a good balance). The '12 has changed and should remedy this from what I've heard.

I was thinking of doing the RLC cartridge so that I could firm up the compression while climbing on top of the leg. I've managed to tune my RC2 with different oils and weights that it is a great 6" fork, great small bump compliance, little dive, and getting full travel with only 55 psi (I'm, 185 w/ gear) but when I stand up and hammer it bobs like a pogo stick.
