So I've been using 187 XXL mounted with PX18s for the past two seasons as my go to ski. I have a pair of 192 Bros with Dukes for touring and pow days. I'm looking to replace my XXLs with something a little lighter and narrower and definately some tip rocker. Loved the stability and stiff race construction feel of the XXLs but found the radius and waist a handful sometimes on really hard days and when I'm stuck solely on the groomers. Some skis I'm considering are 188 Bros, Mantras (no rocker), Belafonte, Praxis Freeride. Trying to evaluate how all these would work everday on the EC. Basically looking for an old 186 LP with a splash of tip rocker if such a ski exists.

legend pro 105 should be showing up in your local dealer right about now

^ Is the new LP going to be beefy like the old versions or like the most recent 100 waist model. Seems perfect for what I'm looking for as long as it isn't a limp noodle.

rumor is back to LP roots - seems like a winner

I've been on 194 XXL's for three years and I just picked up the MX108 in a 187. Nice ski, a little easier to turn.

Maybe too short, but the 182 Belafonte would be a nice option.

I almost pulled the trigger on some Belas, couldn't decide between the 182 and 192 (I'm 5'9 170). Seems like they have a pretty big twin on there.

The Kastle skis I've fondled have always impressed me but they are outrageously expensive.

I'm pretty much the same size as you (+10 lbs) and I was on the 182 for 10 days early in the season before finding out (yet again) that the Bibby will always be my everyday ski. Loved the ski (had a nice smooth, damp feel without the metal but had some pop at the same time), but it wasn't going to get much use. It's a half twin tail, like the Garbones and close to an old LP. Flex felt solid and only when I topped nervously-high speeds did I wish I was on the 192. Never felt like it skied short. Weight is 9.2 lbs if I remember correctly.

For the EC, Mantras or something like that are the call. Taper works in trees and bumps, good grip. Blizzard Atlas is better Mantra, slightly stiffer in front, softer in back, bit damper on ice. Agree new LP looks sweet, but maybe wasted back here.

I'm loving my Viciks. I was skiing 186 LPs before and while they worked fine, they were a bit of a pain in the trees at times. The Viciks improve on them in almost every way. Fairly stiff, some tip rocker, similar locked in feel on turns.

Bump, my XXLs are way too heavy to be skiing slushy moguls all day.

first I have no idea who use a XXL as an everyday driver in the east.

With that said check out the Blizzard Bonafide. I am 5'11 165lb and think I can ski and loved the 180. No in stabilty at all at stowe but I prefer skiing tree, bumps and off trail over skiing groomers. if you feel like you need the more ski there is a 187 as well.

So I got my hands on two pairs of 190 Sploders in nice shape (Wizard and Buddha) that should do for anything I won't be using my Hellbents on. No rocker but I think at little narrower waist will help me out on most days. Keeping my options open if I nice deal on something newer comes around, hope I don't end up missing my XXLs.

if you can pick up a pair of Coreupts Adri Coiriers in a 184 cheap you will not be disappointed, they have an 187 XXL tip, completely flat tail, are a bit skinnier, a bit less damp, but can still charge. I bought a new pair for 130 euro just as a backup pair

I ride my carbon 192 bros with the lhasa tip all the time, tip rocker and sooo much lighter than the old ones. $$$ I've never skiied on the ec though.
