Bought 09/10 194 Gotamas. Tried to FORCE myself to like them. Spent 20 days on them last season. NO Likey. Slow, no pop, felt unresponsive and flat.
Demoed Atomic Coax 192 this season. Surprisingly fun. Pretty stable and chargeable for a "twin tip."
Lookin at Rossi RC 112 in a 198.
Want something 106+ under foot, without getting into the 120's and 190cm+. Prefer uni- directional (no twin).
Lookin for a designated powder/crud charging ski. Already have the 84 carver and 101 "work" ski.
6'2" 200 lbs.
What do ya got based on experience?

There was someone trying to sell a 190 Moment Ruby in Gear Swap for the longest time on the cheap. Believe the dims are 140-112-130. Stiff enough for your size for what you want, plenty of float up to 12" of fresh, and with a flat tail. No rocker.

A helpful bit of information would be "Where do you ski?"
Ever Tried Katanas or Dynastar XXL's? Katanas lean more towards powder and XXL's more towards crud/variable, but sound like the kind of ski you are after. Would throw a K2 Sidestash in there, too.
Not that it is any consolation, but it took me just two days to come to the same conclusions you did about the latest Gotama.

great traditionally cambered, flat tail, charger of a pow/crud killer.
i haven't skied the XXL but from what i hear the goliaths are a bit softer (but definitely not soft).

Squaw is where I ski. Thanks for the info so far. Lookin at these mentioned options now. Have considered the Katana but reluctant after Gotama experience and...Katana's sold out and no longer available on pro form:frown:

Being a CA native that has spent some time at Squaw my favorite boards to ride at Squaw were Volkl Explosivs. The "new improved" version of those in my book is the XXL. They charge, kill crud, and ski in an almost forgiving way. Dynastar discontinued them (new ones and mint used can be found for great prices), but they are the perfect big day Sierra ski. Still plenty of float for powder, too.
Regarding the Katana they have some durability issues (ie - sidewalls), but ski so much better than the new Gotamas. I sold my Got's but kept my Katanas.

Go with the 198 RC112 if you can find em. For all round charging, nothing else quite measures up, and with the rocker tip, they're more versatile than you think.

too bad there were a couple pairs of unmounted 198 rc 112 on the interwebs over the last couple weeks for under 280. sold now though. You should look at the 195 motherships for sale on gear swap now. I just got a pair and like them a lot. or the sc 108s mentioned above for a great price

I have a pair of used 194 XXL's if you decide to go that route, but would be a bit more than DC's SC108's.
