Is it possible to re-size a binding by simply using the screw in the back of the heelpiece to slide the heel along the track?????

I realize that depending on which direction the heel moves the boot sole will move forward or backward of center mounted but in this case the sole will move back from a mount thats already forward of center mounted.

Is moving the heel a bad idea or should I just get the bindings re mounted?

Thats how I adjusted a pair of bindings I purchased, they were a tad too large and there was no need to pull them up and redrill them so close. It only moved the hell forward a few mm, and I cant feel any difference. Not that I would though, I suck at skiing.

Cantdog gets big points for honesty, unless he's sandbagging, in which case he gets negative points for lying, but positive points for being a good skier.

Crap, would I rather be a good skier or honest? Hmm. Maybe I'm just being modest.

Its like this story I heard when I was a wee little one. Never talk about how big your wang is to your gf or girls, always play it down. Then, when the time comes, they will be pleasantly surprised because you talked about how small it is and they were not expecting much.

Ok that story sucked.

Moving the heel is just fine. If you don't like the end result, then consider remounting but if you like it, great.

Laser, it is certainly possible, especially if you don't need to adjust them a little bit. That is the reason that bindings are able to be adjusted like that- so if you get new boots you don't neccesarily have to re-mount. Just make sure when you move the heel into the new position that you still have adequate forward pressure. If you let me know what make and model binding you have, I can probably tell you where to look for the forward pressure indicator.

Bump for info. Anybody know the range of adjustment based on boot sole length? If a set of bindings was mounted for 351mm how much smaller of a boot sole length could you adjust to without having to remount?

It entirely depends where the heel piece was set on its track when mounted. And what kind of binding.
