Looking for work in the north lake tahoe area.

I'm planning on quitting my drafting job in Syracuse NY and moving out to north Lake Tahoe later this fall because I'm sick of working in an office, living nowhere near mountains, and I hate working for consulting engineers(retarded deadlines). I don't know what kind of work I want to do. What I do know is that I want to live in the mountains and maximize my time on skis.
I'm a 27 year old male with some college completed(i've jumped through a bunch of different majors). Been working as a drafter for almost 3 years. Spent several summers landscaping. I've worked at the local mole hill on the race crew, as a ski instructor, and as a college race coach.
I don't need to make a ton of money. To start out, I just want to be able to keep myself afloat while skiing every day or almost every day. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions, or if you think you may have a job for me... PLEASE let me know.

I really want to make this happen.

Look up Resort at Squaw Creek. It is across the valley from Squaw, and big hotel with various jobs (valet, front desk, multiple restaurants, transportation (I think)).

Was a great gig when I did it 10+ years back....drove transportation every night doing airport pickups in Reno, let me ski everyday (work at 3:30). No idea what goes on there now, but it is still in business.

It would be tough to get a drafting job. An Architecture firm in Truckee just let go a few of their drafters... Sounds like you want out of the office anyway.

Alright 1200 dollars a month before taxes, because americorp is taxed on both their living stipend and their educational award. The hand full of people that I know that worked americorp were either on food stamps or living in their cars. Unless they had parents supporting them still.

Americorps is a "paid" volunteer position, not saying there isn't some merits to the program, but like I said earlier, I wouldn't consider it a job.


Not working for the Forest Service anymore, but didn't realize putting out fires was welfare work. Well, to each their own.
