So I have a bro that gave me a discovery series 6# as I am getting into fly fishing. I was fishing a lake off my stand up this weekend and ended up leaving my rod on the dock. The wife brought it home, but didn't break it down and the dog broke the tip by jumping on it.
Any one have any experience with not being the original owner and getting a rod back from Sage?

Sage are good people and their warranty dept is even better.
Ive heard many accounts of people finding half a rod, a broken rod, etc and sending it to Sage and receiving a fully functioning rod(either replaced or repaired).
Dont think you should have too much trouble. Just go to your local Sage dealer and have a talk with them.

Sage could care less who the rod is registered under or if it is registered at all. They'll take care of you.

You shouldn't have any issues. In regards to sending the rod in, bring it to an authorized Sage retailer. Shops will have shipping tubes and shipping accounts with a major carrier.
The last DS rod that I sent to Sage turned around in about three weeks. That includes the shipping time from Sacramento County, CA, to Bainbridge Island, WA, and back. Sage had to roll a new tip section. The rod was a hand me down, and the customer paid the standard $50 handling fee.

I busted the top half of an SP in a car door. Sage replaced it for $30. No questions asked.
