Who thinks Kelly Slater is a girl? With a name like Kelly I think he is. Anyway his additude sucks when he can't win every event and those days of winning seem to be over. Just a thought that crossed my mind after he threw his board in a recent comp.

Simply put, Slater is a competitor at heart.
There are a lot of surfers (and skiers, snowboarders, etc.) who compete as a means to an end; they only do it to fund what they love to do. Slater on the other hand views competition as an end in and of itself. In his book he makes this apparent, he loves to surf but he loves to compete just as much if not more.
Slater took time away from competition but he wanted to come back. He could easily support himself solely through sponsor trips but he wants to compete. Now, he just has to learn how to deal with not being the untouchable machine he once was. He is his harshest critic and I think it’s being misinterpreted.

bizzaro yardsale?
Maybe he should start trowing down off waterfalls to vent some of his competative agressions. I do admire Slater though for his competive spirit.

I haven't been posted in almost 2 years because I haven't been working. Punai, do you the photo of two surfers looking up the wave with 20 dolphins jumping towards them? I need some photos to put in my office.

Yeah, I recognized the name but the post count threw me off. I've been around, mostly in the shadows, since the Chatter board. Back in the days of Jenny Tull, SCNS, and Mr. Pow writing "PS- Pray for snow" after every single post.
And no Macy's for me, I'm strictly a JC Penny's guy. :D
