Can anyone out there who has recently made the jump from regular boots to Full Tilts comment if they are warmer or not?
I am looking at the Konflicts because I need a size 24.0 boot and there isn't too much choice out there. Its either these or race boots.

I find them incredibly comfortable and warm, but then I have what would appear to be a very Flexon shaped foot (very narrow/low volume) so they fit my feet exceptionally well.
That said, I think what makes them warm is the Thermoflex (in earlier models) and now the Intuition moldable liners. Both are great at retaining thermal energy.

Then what? You say a regular boot, what's a regular boot, anyway? As opposed to wearing overlap, rear entry;) or a race plug? More info.

1. go to a reliable bootfitter and let them fit you for the proper shell.
2. you can always use Hottronics (or other like-minded) footbed inserts to keep your boots warm
3. go to a reliable bootfitter...(this cannot be repeated or stressed enough, as you can't just pick a boot at random and say "I want that boot because it's gonna be warmer...how do you even know that FTs will fit your foot?)
there's a thread somewhere around here on the Do's and Don't's of bootfitting...just search a bit.

Short Answer: Intuition liner are super warm
Long Answer: If your foot is too high volume or wide for a full tilt it will still be cold. Specifically if you have a high instep, you will be cutting off the circulation to your foot and it will be chilly.

Thanks for all your replies.
Just to clarify... I am currently skiing Salamon Falcon Race boots (24.0) with Hotronic boot heaters. They fit really well however the race liners are not warm. I have had this setup for about a season and a half. They have been good until skiing the other day when the heaters started to malfunction. Which got me thinking that I am not really super excited about having boots which I have to rely on electronics to ski.
As for the Full Tilts, they weren't available when I bought my boots or I might have considered them. I have tried them on so I know that they fit. My question is are they warmer than standard boots (4 buckle, overlap, non race).
Any other options are welcome.

I don't ski on Full Tilts, but Krypton pros, but I've noticed things with regard to warmth. The Intuition liners that come in kryptons, full tilts, etc, are much warmer than regular boot liners. However, they must be properly fitted, and your boot must be properly fitted as well. If it's too tight, you will cut off circulation, and your feet will get cold. Intuition liners, are super dense, and a combination of that with the foam they use, make them warmer than other liners. The other part of that is the 3 piece/cabrio design as opposed to the overlap design, doesn't have that t gap on top of the foot. When I used regular boots I always put duct tape over this because wind and water from the snow would leak in. With the full tilt/krypton design, this doesn't happen, so dry and non wind exposed feet tend to stay warmer quicker. This combo I think makes the boots warmer.

the intuition liners IN the fulltilts is what makes them warmer.

I initially looked into this option but the shop/dealer here in Calgary recommended against this route as the falcons are semi-race plugs and I wouldn't be able to fit the regular liner into the shell...
Anyone put intuition liners into the Falcon Race?

the boots themselves are probably colder. The plastic isn't very thick, so less insulation. That said, fit + liner is about 99% of how warm your feet will be.

yea they are really warm,
its probably not the boot it self, but the intuition liner that is responsible for this

Pee on your feet to warm them up.

Are you talking about Ski Cellar? Intuitions in Falcons should not be a problem at all, doesn't matter if its a full on race-plug or whatever. That said, you need to get the right Intuition liner, they do come in different thicknesses, the thinner ones of course taking up less volume, but even then they might not work.
I personally would not trust anyones opinion at Calgary shops when it comes to Intuitions. I even met the Intuition rep for the area last year, lets just say I hope they got rid of him. They just don't have the knowledge on the product and I am pretty sure everyones experiences with them are only from boots that come stock with them and not as an aftermarket product.
If you want to try the Intuition route then you really need to go see mntlion in Banff. He sounds like he is super knowledgeable on them and a great bootfitter and I believe they have a selection of different liners at the shop and also Full Tilts if you want to do that. PM the guy. IMO great bootfitters DO NOT exist in Calgary.
Oh, you could call Dan at "Whats Your Racket". He started dealing with Intuition 15 years ago but whether or not hes been selling them since, I have no idea. If he has then he would know a thing or two about them.
One more thing JONG. Search the posts for Intuition info and read through them all. There is A LOT of discussion on them.

just email intuition directly, buy the right model and size form them, and bring them to banff, for heating. DIY instructions exist too.
You should be able to get an intution in that shell, ya its a BIT narrow at 98mm but that is the same shell wdith as the fulltilts and they all have int liners to start with.
Dan is great (if you can find him)
