Hey guys, long time listener, first time caller. Heading down to Puerto Vallarta in a couple of weeks and am looking for whatever info you've got on surfing in the area. We're flying into PV and will be boat-based (apparently there are some quality water-access only breaks) but land access should be available too -- I know there's really no surf at all in PV, proper. All I've heard of so far are Punta Mita, about an hour north, and another point (Comixta?), a left, south of town. Thanks in advance for any help. Five weeks of warm water and cold beer, here I come!

I havent been there for a few years. but last I was there they told us to stay the fuck away from the water cause they dump thier sewage in it.
first off... I hate you. ;) I spent five weeks in Sayulita last Nov-Dec and almost stayed all winter.
If you're boat-based you can access a bunch of cool stuff in the Punta Mita area. Sayulita (just north of PM) is also good for smaller waves and shore access, and at that time of year it won't be crowded.
Umm... I forget the other places near there... but it doesn't matter. That will be fucking unreal!
I hate you.

I second Sayulita. It pretty much ruined my PV vacation, never felt like hanging in PV after we hit Sayulita. I'll see if I still have the number of the surf shop in town. They were more than happy to look out their front door and give you a surf report. Awsome little town with laid back folks and super el cheapo food and drink. Make sure you get some fresh ceviche from the palces on the beach while chilling between sets.

Sininen(sp?) is a good little shop in Sayulita. It's right next to the beach across from the internet place. Oh, and don't use the internet cafe on the beach. I was sitting at one of their computers when someone hacked into it. Go to the place at the corner of the town square. Their connection is faster anyway.
