H - Let me know when you are going to be out here so I can do my best to get your skis to you in person.
Rocker is an interesting animal, for sure. Right now, I think I have 6-7 different rocker lengths/heights, from 15cm to 35cm, and from 1cm to 2.5cm, and want to add more. But rocker is amazing.

Phill - For sure. The more the merrier. Shoot me a PM and we can see if we can hook up at snoqualmie in the next few weeks. What is your boot sole?

Well at their current mount, there is 73.5cm in the tip and tail (add 15cm of edge with the rocker, so total of 88.5cm).
At -9, there would be 72cm of tail, 75cm of tip (90cm of tip with rocker).
As for how they ski, they are interesting for sure. Lots of fun. Super super stable, even with a forward mount. I was trying to go as fast as I can and they just keep up. Enough sidecut to carve, but there is no issue pointing it. Just roll your ankles and they carve. Very easy to ski for a ski this size.
Regarding the weight, this is a pretty big ski. It is a true 191cm, tip to tail pulled tight, 141/113/128 mounted with s916s. So I feel the weight is proportional.
Very forgiving, but stiff. Rocker is great. I don't think I will ever ski anything again that has less than 15cm of rocker (as long as it is not too high, this ski has 1.5cm x 15cm per ski) because I hardly notice it at all on groomers, but even the small rocker helps a ton when keep the ski above anything chunky or soft, which allows for the forward mount to work pretty well.
The skis was interesting in that it was damp but poppy. Which for me is the best of both worlds. It was snappy, stable, but not dead felling. And it skis stiffer than it hand flexes for sure. Seems to be a pattern with bamboo cores.
Overall, I am pretty stoked. I have spent a lot of time skiing multiple pairs of iggies, Kwoods, capital, K2s, volkls, etc, and I have had as much fun on this pair as any ski I have ever skied (but maybe I am biased ). But this is my first pair, made completely by hand (nothing done with computer controlled equipment which I want so bad...), and it seems that the four people who have tried it thus far have all liked it a lot. So only good things to come from here.
And Oftpiste, sorry. Wish I had known you wanted to test them more, you totally could have taken them for a few more runs. The guy who tried them next could have waited. But thanks for the review.
Depending on your skiing style and how you want the ski to perform, I already have a few ideas as to how to improve the ski. But as I said, I am completely stoked on them. It feels good to have put a lot of time into something and have it really pay off for me.
Those are beautiful. Nice job. They are definitely the nicest pair of firsts Ive seen. If you make it to P-land and don't get your CNC, but want to mill some cores, I have access to a machine and the software (in Hood River).
BTW, did you make your press or buy it?

Thanks! Portland is looking like where I am ending up for at least the next year. As long as I can get a 9-5 to pay the rent, I should be down there by late-June to early July.
It would be sweet to have access to any sort of equipment down there. Right now I get all my templates cnc'ed, but beyond that it is all done by hand (well...with tools).
Press is 100% homemade. It is drilled so that it can be taken apart fairly easily. All 1/2" grade 8 bolts ranging from 2" to 7" in length. It is held together by 148 bolts, so a lot of drilling to get everything to finished. Some of the bolts go through 3 layers of steel over a 6" range, so building it took quite sometime because I had to be sure everything was drilled pretty accurately. Plus moving around two 220+ pound beams and getting them correctly lined up is a lot of work for one person....
When I calculated it, I think it came out that I had drilled something like 15 feet of steel to finish the press.
As I said above, I plan to sell this press. Next one will be easier to construct for sure and may likely be welded, which would save me quite a hassle.

Glad I happened to click this thread. I had NO idea on3p was actually pressing. Sounds like you've got your shit together, Scott. Sounds like you're putting out some badass skis, too.
My quiver has changed some. A little downsizing to a seemingly much more reasonable quiver (the first two pairs don't count).
The 178 B3s have been converted into rental skis for friends who come and visit. My first ever pair of skis (175 pocket rocket) is specifically for getting beaten to shit in October and November. The BROs, 170 Deep Powders, and GS skis have been sold. Here's what I'm left with:
03-04 183 iM103 w/ 997s (actually bought from the guy who's making skis now. Love 'em, Scott). Everyday skiing and firm snow.
2007 178 Lotus 120 with Dukes (missing its brother. :() Soft snow.
161 Atomic 9'16 Slalom. Night skiing on ice at Keystone. Some groomers. Not much other use.
179 PE. Park.
180 Budda Explosiv. Replacement for the iM103s when they die.

176 LP w/dukes: variable conditions, going fast, and backcountry. They are actually heavier than the P4's!
181 Rossi Scratch WRS w/FKS 12: firm, park, and moguls. Super poppy, energetic, and versatile ski. Mounted 1cm forwards.

Said Kahunas are now mine, mounted with Dukes - I bought them from Bandit, then later sold them to XtrPickels, who sold them to Greguar, whom I bought them back from last summer.
They've been passed around a fair bit, have lots of holes in them now, but they're still riding strong!

I'm looking at picking up a pair of Blowers cheap. Would you recommend them? Do they ski as fat as they are, or are they manageable on-piste and in less than a foot of fresh? I also have to choose between the 185s and 195s. I'm a 6'1", 180lb, aggressive, fast skier who likes to get the sick shit but definitely appreciates quickness in the trees. I skied Squaw this year but may be headed to Summit County, CO next year.
Also, I'd be amazed if those 777s are as heavy as my Machete FBs.
Thanks!

I'm 5'11", and aboot 200 in full kit. I'm by no means a bumpfag or a racer, but I like to ski fast. The 185 Blower is my everyday ski for Kicking Horse, and the 192 777 is my go-to for mach schnell laps.
I really liked the Blowers. It was the first ski I found that had the damp, let-er-rip characteristics that I loved about my 777s. When I first demoed the 185, I just took them out to rip on groomers and shitty chopped up bumps. Super fast, stable on the hard pack groomers; and just as stable in the crud. At 110 underfoot it was kind of a no brainer about it's pow reformance and I was surprised at how nimble they were in the trees. With a 26m sidecut they will turn when you want them to without feeling like a SL ski.
The 193 feels softer than the 185, but it isn't really. It's got the same flex as the 185 but with 8cms more to flex, they feel softer. Next years 193 will have a flat tail and should be a touch stiffer.
I got my 193s from mr Pappagiorgio and they were mounted for a solly at 315mm. I re-used the heel holes and mounted my toes back for a sole length of 295 because I knew this was going to be a pow only tool and wasn't concerned with being mounted back a bit. They still rip on groomers, but when its really icy, they tend to chatter, and get tossed a little bit in heavy crud due to the rear mount.
I took them both with me cat skiing in the spring, and only skied the 185s.

As for the weight of my 192 777s, I haven't found another ski that i liked carrying less. I'm sure other mags out there can back me up on that.

The Wagners are cool. They are very light (7.8 Lbs) for the pair so they are a great long distance touring ski. They are really good in the pow and they are pretty versatile too.

Hi, I just got some Legends..
I have posted for binding and the consensus is that I should go with DIN 14..
I am naive and 175lbs.. I was thinking of selling my bandits and using the Marker 12 piston bindings on my LPs..
I do drop in boneless and go scary fast.. The bandits almost seemed a bit shaky for me..
What are you respectful opinions on maters of binding for a true gentlemen who goes fast and is a good skier and weighs 175lbs? Din 14 or 12?
Thank you!
The 2nd photo is of skis I am considering selling..
I also bought some skis for my EX-girlfriend who is a JERK!
The K2 Misdemeanors in the first photo I guess I'll sell those as well, brand new in plastic.. what a chump-love-sucker... &:~(

My advice? Leave the Markers on the B2s, and buy StoicChris' Rossi 150 pros. He's been bumping his thread for a few months now, and would probably take a pretty resonable offer.
Or get some powder chords(ghey) so you can find your nice new LPs after they pre-release on a big day.
Either way, you'll sitll have skis at the end of the day.

well...there are nine different shapes so nine different profiles depending on the type of skiing the ski is for and also taking into account the rocker, which varies between skis. i also varying the thickness of those profiles between models...
shoot me a pm and when I have a sec I will run things down with you.
also, it also varies a lot by the composite layers you are using.
I would say anything between 2-3.3 in the tip and tail and 10-12 underfoot is fine, depending on what you want to do.

Well, sort of a weird deal going on. basically sort of setting them up as testers. Cost was between $300-350 a pair, which was sadly right around cost for me (actually probably higher).
Little over 50 pairs getting pressed/finished right now, all of which are spoken for by friends. Then moving/selling a lot of what I have. Not sure after that....ideally finding some sort of real capital and get something larger going.
Once I get settles in Portland I will probably have a big post about them.

soooooo stoked! I don't want baby killers though, kitten killers will suffice.

actually just swapped your core/composites for something a bit softer flexing with more pop. I think they will do well for kitten killing.

No. Marshals are the stiffest, then yours, then my pair/Brandon's pair, the steve (Fubar's) pair. All are decently stiff though.

Wes curious when you would ride the prophet over the tahoe, or vice versa. I am looking at both of those skis as an everyday ride for this season. Is it just the touring option?
Yeah it's just touring really, i'd go back and put dynafits on the tahoes and use the prophets for everyday ripping because of the lightness of the tahoes, they weigh like nothing. They're both great skis, it's really up to you because they're so similar, the prophets carve well and are a little fatter but the tahoes charge everything, they're really one in the same in terms of stoke for me

more info soon, at least on shapes and what the plans are this season.
i made great scotts with 4 different flexes, and from that we will probably determine a soft and stiff flex to go with down the line. I think the stiffest pair was maybe 255-260, and the softest was maybe 225-230 on the iggy scale

well we should talk shapes them. if you are looking for something jibby and playful, something like the caylor or jeronimo would be a bit more suited.
caylor - 191cm 147/121/144 35cm tip/tail rocker
jeronimo - 186cm 145/115/142 - rocker still up in the air, but testers have 25/25 tip an tail
caylor - 191cm 147/121/144 35cm tip/tail rocker

There is a lot of testing and stuff on the business side to complete before I would be comfortable really selling them. There are a little over 50 pairs of prototypes out there right now. So plans are now for me to basically see if I can get the business side of this correctly set up and funded....then set up/build a new factory, and then adjust the skis (plus make a few construction changes) and get some more testers out hopefully for something more offical and public next year....
I have three demo pairs now and will hopefully have more soon. doing this all on my own and for the most part while in school has unfortunetly slowed the process down considerably.

Hey Jer, noticed the pair of Sanouks with Freerides. How do they tour? I bought a pair off off e-bay this spring with alpine bindings and am considering remounting with some AT bindings if I like them. Is it worth the trouble? I hear they are not that versatile, but are a great powder ski.

They're fine for touring. The STS tail hook will never come off a Sanouk. They're more versatile than many people let on, although they are best in powder. Honestly, the only places Sanouks aren't that great is coral, bumps and consolidated crud. I had to do the TTips Freeride fix on the bindings, tho. Sanouks are so soft that the older Freerides will insta-tele constantly without some modification.

seriously, though -those things scare the fuck out of me. they're like 99-cm slalom race boards with a 10cm tail. I think I have all of 2 runs on them.
Alpinedad- I'm still not sure if i'm going to mount them tele or not... if you want, you're more than welcome to demo them if they work out - 315 BSL alpine, or if you tele, those 02's would adjust a hell of a lot.

I tried both the 8/9 size and the 10/11 size. The 8/9 would have been the closest to the stock tongue size (my boots are 28's), but the 10/11 was a little taller and felt stiffer when flexing in the boot in shop. It was just a little shorter than the liner, so won't dig into my shin.

Also, whats with the three extra bindings? Why don't you throw the jesters on the Bibbys? They must be lighter than the looks (or Rossi's, not sure) you've got on there. . . .

teo - Haven't weighed the Bibby's with bindings on yet, but they aren't super light with the 185s. Honestly I think the lightest setup (by hand test) is the Maven/Jester combo, with the Ruby/STH and Bibby/185 combos being close behind. Bibby's are mounted +1.5 of the line.
sloafer - Bindings come and go. I bought the un-used jesters from a kid on NS, and thought I was getting scammed. Ended up buying a second pair from BC with the 20% code, then the other set of jesters finally showed up last week. I have one pair of new FKS-120s for future projects, and a pair of FKS-155s with insanely wide brakes, like 140+ so I'm saving them for future madness :)
And yes, Rossis on the Bibby's, 185 Squads.

Beastly in most conditions. Kinda like a 2x4 with a base. Hard to flex.
In mank they're superlative however.
That said, I love em because they're truly handmade and very unique. My particular pair has metal edges which are unusual in the product line.

It's a local Vancouver company that made 30 beta pairs for testing and feedback this season for a pretty killer price (CAD$300).
They don't quite have the finish of a ski ready for retail, kind of like bro blems (edges not quite connected in tip, base not entirely covering the tip, sidewall uneveness and a few things here and there. If it works out I think they'll start selling next season.
They are 103mm at the waist, have a pretty narrow tail, a large tip with a bit of rocker in it, regular camber the rest of the ski.
