damn that is gnarly.
I was right behind a friend of mine on A-line a few years ago and a squirrel darted out. Right on the lip of a jump, he ran right over the little guy, direct hit.

I ran over a rabbit once when in darted out in front of me. I assume I killed it, but my dog was right behind me and snatched it up as a prize. We may never know who killed roger the rabbit.

The entire Mammoth Lakes zone is lousy with chipmunks and lizards, it's really only a matter of time.

Never hit one on a bike, but I tagged a squirrel pretty good skiing a couple years ago. I was hauling ass down a groomer when it darted out. I hit it with my tip, it cartwheeled 30 feet and took off into the woods.

I've hit a couple grouse recently - those birds are dumb as rocks. They dart out in front of you, see you, and then try to outrun you down the trail. They're not very fast.

Now that's some funny shit. Especially since it's not jammed in my brake.

Well that wouldn't be very much fun to clean up. I've almost done this to my friend's dog a few times on the trail.

I caught a bat that way once on a road bike at night.

Nasty. A fox got clocked by a bike in dry gulch on shoreline a few days ago, too, so it does happen.

In Dirtrag a while back, there was a picture of small bird that got caught in the stanchion of a front fork. Strangely, I found it funny.

ahahaha that made my day
Poor buddy! I hope his leg heals quickly! It could have been worse. It could have been Richard Gere's bike.

I've ran over plenty of gardner snakes, because they like to sun themselves on nice big flat rocks right in the middle of the trail. I got one wrapped up in my drivetrain pretty bad years ago too, but never though it'd happen with a squirrel.
So was the squirrel still alive once you stopped?

Crazy that it got up in the rotor like that. Sadly, I have a long history of killing small animals and birds on my bike. One time, a bird flew into my spokes and exploded like a feather pillow on impact. Another time, a chipmunk ran under my front tire while I was on a dirt road going uphill at 3-4mph. He went straight from the side of the road to my tire. Pretty sure he had issues and saw my tire as the only way out. Sad when it happens, though.

Not sure who I feel worse for - the squirrel or that rider who's using Hayes brakes.

I used to have those "bike bra" things for road trips with the roof rack. Well it caught a bird once.
Found it stuck in there dead at the gas station.

I don't imagine the rider stayed upright.
My wife had a Chem prof at U of O that hit a deer on the way to school. He was out with a concussion for a few days.

There was a kid from my home trail in Wisconsin that wasn't paying attention and a deer jumped out, also not noticing him. The kid went OTB but he wasn't hurt.

Got a bird stuck in between my ankle and crankset tonight, that was pretty exciting. I thought he got stuck in the chainrings for a sec but he was OK and flew off.
