Windswell in effect. Decent 4-5 foot shifting peaks with only 5 of us out, since the bitch ass current and closeout sets sent most people heading south.
What looked like disorganized bunch of windblown crap on the inside actually masked the sickness that was taking place out the back. Long racy walls and punchy sections made for a fun-ass session. Low tide had the waves heaving onto the inside sandbar for boardbreaking floaters, or a bodyslam onto the shallow bottom.
Long paddle after every ride because of the current, but if you can maintain position at the peak then it's all yours.
After sunset the heebie jeebies were setting in. Stinson Beach, just across the Golden Gay Bridge is closed from recent shark sightings.
As I paddled out to catch the next set, a dark shape cruised underneath my board. When I realized it was a seal, my girly man scream stopped. Then another. Two seals hanging around me. Shark food. Fuck it. I'm outta there. I caught the first set, a sick right that walled up all the way to the inside section, then got my ass out of the water.

I was out last Sunday, thank you very much. :D Now that I found my hooded 4/3, I'm ready for SF fall.

Dude it rules. Now only my nose and cheeks go numb, and no more ice cream headaches from duckdiving.
A warm day in SF is when you pull the hood back.
Don't be such a sissy. It's not that cold. In other OB news... I pulled the trigger on a 9'6" toboggan last night... so no more milking off my buddies' quivers.

pu's small and gets the shivers easily. that is, when he's not in the what-the-fuck-is-that-smell-and-why-is-it-warm-? confines of his truck playing window chicken.

To make yourself feel better in situations like that, just use the badkwards logic (read: denial) of a friend of mine: "I always feel better when I see seals around. The seals wouldn't be hanging around if there were sharks here."

Thanks! I feel much better. ;)
The surfing equivalent of: "Hey, there's tracks there...it must be safe!" :D
Punani-
Mrs. Slim, myself, and a couple of buds are surfing OB today at 6:15. Skip out of work early. Mellow swell... bring your Cadillac.

Just got this...
I checked Sloat, then up the North End, then Pacheco. Finally paddled out Sloat in front of the showers. Fun little 2-3 footers and a mellow crowd. Was out from about 6:45-8:00.
Let me know if you'll be out again this week. I'm totally down for after work sessions whle the weather's nice and warm.
We surfed off the end of Lawton. I'll shoot you a pm next time we're headed out. It's supposed to start getting foggy and flat by next weekend though.

"3 o'clock update. Sunny skies, wind has backed off. Nice warm sunny, looks like surf out here."
Who's up? I should be there around 5:30ish off the Sloat parking lot.
I'm a no go today. Will be working late followed by studying for my professional traindriver exam.

Holy Ass it was sweet last night. A little bigger than Tuesday, with cleaner lines and more consistent sets going both ways.
Stayed out til dark this time, since there was a pack of us. Rights were long but kinda got fat on the channel. The lefts were walled up with racy sections. Not much current and an easy paddle. Pretty much nonstop action with no waiting for sets.
Classic OB fall conditions.
Thanks for callllling Ocean Beach let's take a look at what we have for you TODAY!
