I am working on a discount pass with Jackson Hole, and depending on our willingness to come up with cash, could do things as cool as exlusive parties at the Moose with a live band, etc.
I could do a maggot only TGR shirt, with proceeds going to a charity of our choice, I could get special viewings of TGR films, etc.
Dirk Collins, one of the founders here is super stoked and is willing to dedicate his and others into making this an off the wall experience.
Remember the dates are Feb 4th - 14th.
So, roll call time -answer the questions.
-are you coming/what dates
-Where are you coming from?
-Do you need lodging?
-Are you bringing non-maggots?
-Are you adverse to ending up on flash your rack.com during the summit?

I'm headed down from Calgary for a 4 day weekend, along with a couple of non-maggot's and Doug_W. Will be looking into a room - would be willing to look at splitting a week condo rental or something with someone who's planning to be there for the 2nd half.
Flashyourrack.com says my boobs don't make the cut, though.:(

09-02-2004, 05:16 PM
Man, this is going to kill me. I got to find some way to make it up, but Buzz Jr. looks to be here on the 19th of Feb.
Anyone got some good ideas on how to get away for 2 days or so from a wife that is uber pregnant and does not want me spending any money around that time frame cause she is worried about our (my extra) expenses?
Ok, after reading that, looks like I will be opting for a tshirt and some good stories from yall. :(
Frozen, how you doing mang??
I'm definitely thinking about it. I haven't been to JH in a long time....
[roadtrip claiming]I think it's time the Baker folks ponied up and represented at one of these events![/end roadtrip-claiming]
edit: wait, I think Baker folks have represented. Nevermind.
IF I could attend, I'd be coming from Baker, probably in need of cheap/free lodging (unless I can figure out a way to not freeze to death in my car), and won't be bringing any non-maggots.
edit 2: oops, forgot about the trade shows. When are SIA and OR? Might be coming from those... gotta check the calendar.

Thinking about a JH/SLC road trip with the g/f. Need to work out dates and vacation time, but I'm in for around a week.
edit: just realized I'm gonna have to stop in Vegas on the way. This just got really expensive.
edit x2: For simplicity's sake
coming from LA/Vegas/SLC
Lodging: needed, the cheaper the better
Bringing: 1 lurker maggette

-Where are you coming from? - Sacto, baby! I'm not sure if I'll be driving or flying...
-Do you need lodging? - Hopefully no...but nothing's set in stone yet.
-Are you bringing non-maggots? - doubtful, but it's still a long ways off...
-Are you adverse to ending up on flash your rack.com during the summit? - I'm very pro public nudity, and more appropriately, self-humiliation, so ... YES!
I'm all giddy for that week... I already put my time in with the Lumburgs!

Last year SIA was Jan 26th-29th, OR was Jan 30-Feb 2nd, and the IFSA event at Snowbird was Feb 2-6th.
I would love to make it to Jackson, but if the dates are the same, I'll be at SIA and then at Snowbird. So depending on when I get back, we could always drive out to Jackson... Hmmm. drive to Vegas, Snowbird, Jackson, home? Lemme check the mileage...
edit: lodging? tickets? hmmm.... Fly to Vegas, come back, drive to Snowbird, then to JH, then back to baker? That looks better... Anybody want to go to Utah from Seattle?

I'll most likely be coming from Fort Collins for one of the long weekends, providing snow is in the forecast. I think it'll be sort of a last minute thing, seeing as how I'll be missing class and work. But, this is one I can actually drive to and I go to Jackson every year anyways. I'll be bringing one non-maggot for sure. We'll probably need a place to crash, but if no one has last-minute floor space maybe I'll dig a snow cave. :D

All right, I'm stoked beyond belief. Maggots coming from all over converging into one central location to party like rock stars!
As far as you so called maggots claiming to hold out until the snow shows, what the hell are you thinking?
How many times in your life can you hang out with so many friends, party so hard, ski with locals who happen to be kick your mom in the head sick skiers, who are looking forward to showing you the goods in the backyard?
If you stay home YOU WILL kick yourself. You will not remember what you did a year later that was so important.
Have you ever wondered what was on the backside of Jackson, just over the ridge into Granite Canyon? Have you wanted to ski the Backcountry off of Rendevous peak but did not have the knowledge to do so? How about if a heli ski guide from Alaska who happens to have skied these areas for a decade offered to take you on a tour?
Man, I moved here because I was so stoked on such events. Come up and play for a week guys, you'll never regret it!

People ask me that a lot. I've never understood why.
I won't pay the ridiculous sum to fly into Jackson. I'll likely be flapping into SLC and mooching a ride with some miscreants from there.

Yes. I'm past the stage of being willing to sleep on the Vuarenet/Shades/whatever it's called now porch.

I seem to have the largest contingent of non-maggots. This may change, as not all are totally sure. I will probably have beds to offer.
If anyone is interested in lodging and flight deals, call these people. Jackson Hole Central Reservations (http://www.jacksonholewy.com/w-lodging-village-center-inn.php) Ask for Val(she sounds hot- Frozen? Want to do some recon?) NOW YOU"RE JUST TEASING ME!!!
Uh... are you looking to find any cheap lodging... something could be arranged... um... I may be camping and there may be some proverbial and literal room in my tent for you... uh... we can compare man boob size...
Also, don't flatter yourself. I work out far and away less then you do. I'm willing to bet that my man boobs are bigger then yours, so I can just fondle them any time that I want. So there!

The two of you suck. My boobs are far better, and I can fondle THEM anytime I want. And don't touch him, Uber, he's MINE!!
Coming -- I always do, but in this instance, I'll try and make it. I'm a definite maybe. It's a toss up between the Utah Mini, and the Jackson Summit. and an ever so slight possibility of going to whistler during new years.....
From -- Sacramento, CA
Lodging -- Yes please. Cheap.
Non-maggots -- Not that I know of. I'll try and get my roommate to go, but she isn't much of a skier. She's hot, though, and every single guy who runs into her thinks so, so she may be worthy. I'll have to protect her from Punani, and Uber, because he's just weird.
My rack -- I echo altachic's sentiments with my rack, except not dtm. That would be a different guy, thanks. However, if given certain amounts of alcohol, this could be arranged.

I should be able to make it through early February before I get evicted...and I always have my mobile home to fall back on if I'm scroungin by then.

There is a good possibility of an opening ( maybe 2) for another maggot(s) who needs lodging. I will be there the 5th-13th. I am coming from New Orleans.
I am STRONGLY in favor of a maggot t shirt. I don't have anywhere near enough cool t shirts, just silly ones from like 4th grade.
I like the idea of viewing films. I can never get enough TGR. I am TRYING currently to view The Realm on dvd, but the brand new player I got is being very very stubborn. :( Doesn't look like it wants to play anything...
How bout a "Maggot First Tram" or something, as might have been suggested previously? That would kick some serious ass. Preferably for some freshies. :D
Whatever happens, I'm there, and I will be skiing. Hoorah!

- Are you coming? Hells yes.
- Where are you coming from? Bozeman, Montana; just a short 4 hour drive
- Do you need lodging? I should be set, looking to bring a buddy that has a friend w/ floor space
- Are you bringing non-maggots? Yes, but we will convert him!
- Are you averse to ending up on flash your rack.com during the summit? Mine, yes. But I will be damned if I don't help get someone else's on photo
**I'll be hauling my snowmo down too!

Did you unlock the laser? There's probably some kind of switch on the bottom of the unit that locks the laser so it doesn't rattle around in transit. The player won't work unless you unlock it. You probably know this, but it doesn't hurt to suggest the obvious.
Sorry for the brief off-topic, tech talk foray :)

I'd consigned myself to staying at home but when I read this I knew I couldn't miss the party.

This is on just the goat path up Twin Slides. Glory slides and kills though, be careful.
I've done many a full Moon on Teton Pass, snowboarding, and skateboarding in the summer (4.5 miles on 10 degree pitches is so much like snowboaring it's insane.) Even rollerbladers with polls act like skiers while throwing sparks. It takes an hour and a half to skate the Pass. Best part is the Stagecoach at the bottom.
I was one in the Stagecoach with about a dozen other patrons when the Victoria Secret girls came in to play pool. No lie, Elle McPherson! I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

After re-reading this post for like the 20th time and then looking at APD's gorgeous pic, the stoke has finally sunk in deep enough to make me not care about the cash or my lack of it. I must return to JH. My gaper friends will never make it happen so it might as well be now, there's just no better time to do it.
I'm thinking like I'll probably drive from Vancouver starting on the 4th and ski Red and Fernie on the way there
I'll only need about 15 square feet of floor space to crash on, cheap is key (likely Feb 7-10)
I'll be going it by myself, hoping a maggot wants to join in as co-pilot
I'm thinking like I'll think I'll look hot on the web if I get enough beer in me

Just a thought that there will be several going down to JH via Lethbridge - Calgary folks and Lethbridge group (probably Flanker?)- so if you keep on going after Fernie and maybe hit Castle you might be able to meet up with those groups. Beats driving alone.
edit and yes
-are you coming - Yes so it is written
-Where are you coming from? Calgary
-Do you need lodging? yes- Playharder we should decide on wheere to stay

That sound like a good plan though it'd be nice to have someone local join in from up here for a rippin road trip. That'd free me up to follow the pow all the way to JH. I'll be up at WB quite a few times so I'm hoping to hook up with some local maggots for the first time this winter. All I know is this should be pretty facking sweet. Anyways Red, Fernie, WH2O, and KHMR (pick 2) are on the top of my list to hit on the way, maybe a Montana hill. The powder will set my path. ;)

Along MD9's idea, what about helping all those who have lost loved ones to skiing accidents - there is an organization (I think) of people who have lost loved ones to avalanche - helping children like Trevor Peterson's or Alex Lowe's would be a noble endeavor.

Glory is sweet, but you get no extra return on your investment. you only ski the vert you hike. and as with all things that are obvious and out in the open, it gets hit pretty hard. Look west side for some fun runs that drop back out to the highway and double your vert for a simple hitchhike back up. My favorite is the south side of the pass, easy skin out, drop down into one valley, skin the next slope, repeat. I've made it all the way to idaho that way. Then just hitch back up.

A thought regarding charities: someone brought this up last year and, though I suppose it can be construed as self-serving, I like the idea of raising money for someone/something that will feel our contribution. I don't know what kind of numbers the maggots usually pull together (I believe the B.C. Summit brought in a couple grand?), but it would be cool if the cash we donated amounted to more than a drop in the bucket for whatever charity we choose. It would be cool if the recipient really felt the power of the mags.
Sick and ashamed and happy (and if the mark of an immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause while the mark of a mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one, I suppose I still have some growing up to do),

I booked a suite in the Village for 2 grand! It's great to be able to stumble/session back to your room from the Moose/VC. but...
I want to cancel though because for a shuttle ride distance away you can get a place for $800 a week!
Big difference in dough

No problems, I used to take Steep Campers into Corbets on a rope. But during a demonstration on self arrest, I got caught going upsidedown and backwards on top of my pack, doohhh! I slid backside down toliet bowl !
Paging Frozenwater:
How about a confirmation on those (plural) early moring boxes? Maybe the JHSC can front a guide or two for half day groups. Good PR to be covered on this site and others. ;)

bump.
This obviously doesn't need to be decided now... but I might be looking to bum a ride from someone coming through (or near) fort collins. This is falling right after my Europe trip and the boyfriend says he won't be able to take any more time off of work. I reeeeeally don't want to pay for gas myself, so if anyone has an extra space in their car that would be cool. Especially anyone only going up for a long weekend. :)

Uber! How could you miss off the person who introduced you to the wonder of man boobs (i.e. Chaz's glorious pair at Alpine).
I'm hurt! You're gonna have to make it up to me, young man:
"Oh, Josh, my skis are getting awfully heavy. Would you mind?............Josh, Bad Roo has got really tired feet. Could you give them a little rub for me.................Oh dear, Josh, I just ordered this really big round of beers at the bar and I appear to have forgotten my wallet. Would you do the honours? ;)

Dey's in Fo Sho:
Max Gosey (if hes a real person
.)-
Max Gosey - Has room @ Hostel X for 4 for Feb. 5-13.
And I AM real, by the way. ;)
Edit: I would be happy to reserve a space for a maggot and just tell my pussy friend Ryan that he can't go and has to go with his family (which I'm sure he was going to do anyway). My friend Kelly is for absolute certain going and my friend Adam is almost definitely going. This leaves an open space for whoever else.
Edit 2: the cost per person (based on 4 people) is 118 dollars for the whole 8 nights. (or about $15/person/night). I have the deposit made, and I was planning on just scraping together the rest of the balance when I got to the Hostel (it's not due until then anyway). So if someone can say that he or she is fer shur gonna be there and help out a little with the rent, I would be more than happy to reserve a space.
PM me for details.

Holy crud... What was I thinking??? Ok.. I'll go back and edit you in.
The sad thing is that I started to read your post without looking at the name, and I immediately thought of Legoskier first. Sorry, Lego. I'll try to get that vision out of my head, or I may not sleep tonight.
Rub Roo's feet... Egad... I rue the day I must rub Roo's extremities.

my situation has changed and I am now in need of lodging, same goes for non-maggot person that I am bringing. We will be there from February 4 or 5 and leaving February 14.
Floor space will work, the cheaper the better.
Also, if anyone needs a ride from Denver, I've got space for two.
Later

Thanks Ubersheist!
So, how is the lodging situation going to work. Just curious, because you ask if we need lodging. Does someone have some connections up there for cheap lodging, or are we all just going to rent out the high school gym and all sleep on the floor (that would kinda cool actually). Are we going to be ablel to get discounted lift tickets also? If these questions are too early, sorry.

That Summit karaoke night was such a blast that we need to do it again.
If someone with connections (Frozen?, ONS?) can take care of Teton ski passes for me on the 11th and 12th, I'll pay the bucks for a pro karaoke company to come in and give us our own "Maggot Karaoke Fest" on either Thursday night the 10th or Friday night the 11th.
I'm friends with a guy whose company does this throughout Wyoming. With enough advance notice, I can get him to book us. He's got a killer sound system with over 33,000 songs on his computer setup.

-are you coming/what dates
Yes: Most likely Saturday to the following Sunday
-Where are you coming from?
Flying out of Boston or Manchester
-Do you need lodging?
Yes, a bed
-Are you bringing non-maggots?
Doubt it
-Are you adverse to ending up on flash your rack.com during the summit? For the cost of lodging I'll flash for sure!
I'm trying to figure this out. Transportation and lodging being the two big questions obviously. Is it worth the extra 200 bucks to fly into Jackson? If not, are there going to be people leaving from SLC at various times to bum a ride off of?
What does everyone do about lodging? Are people going in on condos together?
Thanks. Can't wait for this.
