For Australian standards the season has been excellent so far this year. With 2+ metres (6.6+ feet) across most resorts.

Lots of :D on our faces with conditions being good as we can hope for being so geographically challenged (puny mountains).
So if you find yourself lusting for a quick fix and cash is no option then catch a 21hrs flight to Melbourne or Sydney and a casual 3-6hr drive to the resort of your choice. Better be quick though, the season is short here, dont expect much after September.
