I found this in an old folder. Actually wrote it years ago, but I think it still fits.
In the martial arts there is a kata, a set a flowing movements, called the Iron Thread that is designed to strengthen the internal organs and spirit of the practitioner. As with all martial arts, it heightens awareness at individual and universal levels. In a world of constant change it allows the individual to be strong inside and out and more efficiently control the realities and illusions the world presents
Such is this magazine (and now, this website). Powder is the crystalline thread of the upper echelon of skidom, the common denominator of those doing snow katas perfected by years of practice and devotion.
The thread is change, inner goings on, the constant lines of communication, what we talk about when we get together in bars, on the internet, and in person. It is the sum total of our common denominators. We’re all in it together, the snow, etched memories, epic days, raging storms, and deranged adventures. We’re here to record those moments; through words, through pictures.
We're stitched together by threads.
