1. Do you all want to have it again?
2. Proposed dates?? Ealry Winter, spring skiing? Whatcha want?
3. I will do my best to set it up again for the most part depending on dates. Keep in mind I have a little one coming on or about Feb 20, 2005.
4. What kind of change in the schedule of mountains would you like to see if any?
I really enjoyed the 2 spectacular days we spent at Snowbasin for the weekend. I was also able to hit the Bird once. I'm thinking I would like to include Solitute this year as a main destination spot. Of course their is alway Alta and Snowbird too.
Tell me what you guys want.
Feedback please.

I'm thinking about pencilling in a cryptozepto summit for the beginning of December, 12/8-12/12 likely.
The usual suspects and their respective social coordinators will be informed.

Now you're talking. Atleast one BC day needs to be factored into the equation.
As far as BC summits goes........Dark Canyon Cabin in the La Sals sleeps ten and there are also several other cabins right there that sleep four each. You could get 20 or more enthusiastic individuals in the La Sals to ravage the range.
That would be entertaining. Imagine the skin tracks.

Prolly more skin tracks in a week than that range sees all season.
I was thinking of a Uinta snowmobile BC access day would be a nice way to mix things up for the mini. A lot of logistics involved but it could happen. Anyone?

Pbbbbt! OF COURSE! Are you crazy? Does the recent influxation of baby poop deprive your brain of oxygen? You were there last year, and it f'ing rocked! That was the most fun packed into 4 days that I may have ever experienced (while relatively free of barbituates and while wearing clothes).
3. I will do my best to set it up again for the most part depending on dates. Keep in mind I have a little one coming on or about Feb 20, 2005.
I'll show up whenever you have it (so long as it doesn't conflict with Jackson Hole). ;)

I really liked the inclusion of Snowbasin. That place is underrated and totally devoid of crowds. GT40 was getting us fresh lines all day - bell to bell. That Sunday there was absolutely phenomenal.

Stoy, That could be a great idea for those who want to hit the BC.
For now I am looking to see if the Mini is wanted again and first step beta.
But you BCers keep that in mind. You all have seen the pics from Stoy (if not, go search, they are amazing).
So are you volunteering your guide services depending on the timing of said event and #'s interest?? That can certainly be answered later.

Another Volunteer for BC trip??
Yes, from the few posts so far, BC seems to be wanted by some. There were trips last year, but many took the chair route. Coordination of BC stuff would be cool for this year, something new.

I can already speak for you, Teledave and AH that you all want it again. From riding with you guys all day that Sunday (and Sat too), it was history in the making. What a white blur!!
And of course it will need to be set around the Summit.

I want to make a Solitude day at least too. THe place is awesome.

Whaddya mean speaking for me like that ! I always speak for myself; and, umm, yeah, I'd be very interested in a UT summit, but nobody is puttin' those words in my mouth. ;)
Give it a months seperation either way (preferably later) from the JH summit and I think you've got another winner on your hands.

How about an early season summit, something like 12/12-12/16 or thereabouts. Or sometime in March, say between the 10th and 30th of the month. Either sets of dates would work for me, and from what I understand, both times can be epic in Utah.

Think snowcat, only faster, with a CD player.

It seems as you have the ability to bring snow with you to these events. If it is held during the dates I want, I will get a job of some kind this summer and buy your plane ticket out to Utah. I've skiied for 12 yeard and have had 2 actual powder days, I'm desperate and willing to try anything.

keep in mind that march last year had a few good storms early and late, but nothing worthwhile in the middle. same goes for january. they year before that i think we got 10 inches all of january. feb and dec seem to be the best powder months for lift access skiing here.
I'll have to travel to this for '05. I'm down with that, and I'd be all over a Uintas trip. I could pass on all resort skiing to get that under the belt!
EDIT: Those who do go up in the Uintas, will need to have backcountry experience. When they go back there, they go huge.

LCC, I like your attitude. I guess with that and Trackhead's new an improved snowmobile with tunes and a smile I'll be looking to organize a Uinta BC snowmobile day. With that in mind, I think that a Feb mini would be better than Dec. for snowpack.
Buzz, keep me in the loop on dates and then I'll plan the Uinta Maggot Assault Squad '05 - putting slednecks to shame. Whose in?

A February Mini is going to be out of the question for many a maggot, one big reason:
__________________________________________________
Quote from Frozenwater:
I hereby officially declare Feb 4th-14th 2005 for the date of the next summit. (Jackson).
__________________________________________________
How many people will have the vaca or money or both to hit the Summit and then 5 more days of Utah MINI adventures?? I don't see a lot.
Traditionally I have done the Mini in Feb. and the snow has been spectacular the last two years. The Summit is now during this time frame so I think we have to look at the whole picture and see who is wanting to do this and when.
The MINI around Feb 25-? would be great for the snowpack.
However, how many can get back here after the summit? I see difficulties. A March Mini would be good snowpack, but possibly more spring like conditions depending on the winter. Traditionally we have had a good snowfall in late December too. That has been brought up.
January seems like a no go from the responses so far.
I am not really sure when to schedule this thing, however we have lots of time.
If we decide to do this before Feb, I can/will do a most of the planning. If it is after Feb 20th or so, I will have my hands full with a newborn and will not be able to spend time setting this up or attending more than a day for that matter.
I can be fine with not attending, as I live here, but I simply won't have the time to devote to finalizing details at that time. Someone else would have to take the reigns from me at that point, and I my right hand chic hopefully will be up for that if this is the decision.
Powstash, you will be the man in charge for the Unita Assault and I certainly will keep you informed. As for now, you know as much as me. :D
Who else has an opinion in here? :p

And I'm bringing the kid this time. He's still mad that he missed Tahoe!

There is a lot of info from last year's Mini:
http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5482&highlight=Utah+Mini (http://)
THe first post has a lot of links to lodging. Most stayed in Sandy, the Best Western and that seemed to be great for access to LCC and BCC (ALta, Bird, Solitude). Then you can travel north about an hour to Snowbasin in Ogden. We shall see later what the schedule turns out to be. If we do have it early in the season, Basin does have snowmaking capabilites, thus that much more base under powder ( :D ).
Let me know if you want more details, as this years crowd may need other accomodations than last year.

I am usually in charge of this adventure, at least have been the last two years. Pending a mutiny, I plan to stay the organizer of said event with the help of my cohort in crime, Altachic, the second in command.
You are welcome to contact me via PM or email : buzzworthyski@yahoo.com
Sure, by all means start a poll. Keep in mind it is 90 degrees and July still so I would not expect huge results, but some initial beta would be good.
Half the people who came last year made the trip within 2 weeks of making the decision to come, FYI.
