McCain's Crowd Disturbingly Small, Ten Times Less Than Planned For November 3, 2008 10:14 AM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Something was missing from the first of John McCain's seven campaign stops today: the crowd.

Kicking off the last day of the election in Tampa, Florida, John McCain was welcomed by a roughly 1,000 voters. Compare that to the 15,000 people that President Bush drew to a rally in Tampa on the eve of the 2004 election. "What's up with that?" wrote Adam Smith at the St. Petersburg Times.

Even Fox News had a bit of difficulty spinning the whole thing. Carl Cameron, who is following the Senator at every stop on Monday, said the crowd size was likely "a little bit disturbing" for the McCain campaign. He added that organizers had set up the venue predicting ten times the number of attendees.

What about McCain is so disturbingly small?...

I saw that. Gotta be a sign of good tidings, I hope!

Small article in our paper this morning about tickets still available for today's McCain rally, it was next to the Obituaries.

Palin filled a 20,000 seat amphitheater when she was here two weeks ago, but she did have Hank Jr. opening for her.

Why do you find this surprising? McCain supporters are at work or on Sundays, church.
Obama supporters are home waiting for their welfare checks so they have all the time in the world to come out in support of government run healthcare and higher taxes on wage earners.

Hunh.
Then WHY were they expecting 10 times the number to show up?

Matbe because they don't understand their supporters.

Not understanding your supporters is a GREAT way to lose a campaign.

So either way, it's FAIL.

It's true. Obama has shitty support among highly educated professionals. The upper middle class doesn't like him either. The majority of Americans are welfare queens bilking the rest of us hardworking real Americans. That's why Obama is leading the national polls.

Meh. More likely the retired folks of Tampa took a look at their fomerly million dollar 401k retirement accounts and realized that they are no longer millionaires, and they are applying for jobs at Wal-Mart. Either, that or their million dollar condos bought on spec (now worth a few hundred grand at auction) have drained their accounts and they are flipping burgers at McDonalds.

They are the basis of a large part of his current success, flat out.
Example:
Northern Virginia.
It turned blue due to well educated professionals.
That is just one tiny example.
Hell, here, any well educated/successful person is waay likelier to vote for Obama than McCain.
It's he less educated that tend to be republican (among the non uber rich)

Ten Times Less Than Planned For

I've always been disturbed by expressions like this. If you multiply something by 10 is it's magnitude not INCREASED by ten fold? Sure my understanding is limited in both mathematics and language, but in reality I think this should read:

blah blah blah one tenth blah blah!

... And now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Okay, yes, I was kidding. I know. I thought the welfare claim only warranted sarcasm. Democrats have relied on well educated professionals for a while now. Look at the rest of what I wrote. Could that possibly be serious?

Chiropractors are those who didn't have the grades and/or smarts to get into real med school, but still wanted to be "doctors."
You should tell him, chiros like to be reminded of that.

This sounds very much like a "discussion" I had with a friend of mine. I had a feeling where he got his information and suggested he read something else. He insisted that HE researched everything himself and denied any knowledge of the site I had mentioned. I then hopped on the computer and typed: "th"

What was the first suggested site to pop up on the screen?

"theobamafile.com"

I don't know if it had been discussed before...

Yeah, see, that email wasn't nearly as compelling. I'd have rewritten it something more like this:

"Seriously, you don't know what your messing with!!!!!!! Don't write checks with your mouth (???!!!) that your ass (???!!!) can't cash son. Maybe you need to ask !!!!!!!!!! about me. I don't take your stupid democrat liberal - !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - jokes lightly at all. It's ass!!!!!!!holes like you who need to leave the country. ..."

You get the idea. I'm a competitive writer, though, so I guess I can see how those flourishes might not have occurred to someone without training.
