View Full Version : A conundrum of sorts

Given, I don’t really post that much, but that’s generally because I don’t have anything to say. In any case, I’ve found myself in a bit of a conundrum. I’ve apparently come down with mono (what fun!). And this is causing havoc because next week I have two midterms. So I really have three options: Get them deferred. If I do this, the weight gets transferred to my final, making my finals worth 65% or more. Which is kind of scary. Or, I could just attempt to study really hard and pull off an average ok mark, maybe, if I’m lucky. Or I could drop the courses and take them in spring session or next year. One of them is a linear algebra class, and I’m really not mathematically inclined at all. The other is introduction to ecology, which is my specialization, so that is looking a little more optimistic. Any advice?

defer... and then if you fuck the final you can contest hte grade and have it removed based up on your doctor saying you were all fucked up

How bad are your symptoms? Severe flu-like. I had Mono in college - I should have just sucked it up and worked through it. Get a solid 9 hours of sleep, and hit the library, unless the symptoms are unbearable. Focus.
Your specialty is ecology, but you're taking linear algebra? WTF? It doesn't sound like you need any more math.
Good luck and I hope that you're feeling better soon.

"I thought I had mono for an entire year once...turns out I was just really bored"

it's really sketchy... Sometimes I feel like liquid death, but then I'll have random bursts of energy and pretend to get things done. I'm having rage against the Math department right now because I have to go in and do some random assignment. I don’t know. I’d way rather write the exams… Ergh. I still have three days in any case.
Yeah, linear algebra is a random course required for a degree in environmental biology. Apparently, you use it to estimate population sizes. Or something. Who knows.

Went through something similar in college except instead of it being mono it was a hangover from my 21st b-day and instead of a midterm it was a final. I didn't ask my professor to postone or defer the test because he would have laughed and said no.
I sucked it up and took the test although I literally ran out 5 minutes later because I became sick. Thank God it was a multiple choice test. When in doubt go with B I always said. Every answer was B that day.
So maybe it wasn't a similar situation, but my message is the same suck it up and when in doubt go with B. :D

comeon linear algebra is easy man defer that one just be glad you don't have to graph shit like 7/(x+2)-y/(2)=37.2
