FRIGGIN AWESOME MOVIE!!!!

Doc Ock was ballsy, the web swinging was sick, the subway fight scene was one of the coolest fight scenes ever in a movie!!! Maybe a bit too much about Peter and his inner struggles, but I guess that is a damn important part of the movie...well...the central theme. Anyways, using the Vinzclortho 59 star rating system for movies, I would give this 50 stars. Kirsten Dunst needs braces to help out her fangs and she looked much hotter in the first one but the movie it's self was incredible. I'm going to go so far as to say "best superhero movie ever". Better than X-Men 1 & 2, way better than all the Superman movies though #2 with Zod and his minions was ballsy, better than Batman fer sure...

I think I listened to too much hype because after hearing all this "Best Movie Ever" crap everywhere I was a little let down. To me it was about the same as the first one. Great action scenes, but boring in other spots.

kirsten must've had a bit too much candy as a baby.

i didn't mind the inner struggle as much in this movie compared to say.. superman, hellboy or x-men. i thought his performance anxiety was a cool thing to play up. also every character was given an equal amount of attention which you don't see in many movies in general, action or no.

i don't know how i feel about the green goblin being introduced again but whatever, they'll pull it off well.

I think that Harry Osborne is the Hobgoblin, not the Green Goblin. I hope they modify the suit a bit and bring in another villain for the double team.

Yep, Harry is the hobgoblin...unless they decide to stay close to the comic book and someone else takes the role of the hobgoblin in an attempt to frame Harry. I definately think they are going to bring in a second villian, I'm really hoping its Venom.

yeah Harry becomes the Hobgoblin. They definitely left the door open for The Lizard aka Dr. Connors, sick Venom now that we have Jameson's son in the picture, more Doc Ock. Purty cool...

Altagirl I hear what ya sayin, it did seem a bit slow at parts but keep in mind a very important part of why Spiderman is so much cooler than say Superman is that he is vulnerable. Superman grew up with his stupid all-powerful powers where Peter Parker had them shoved in his face plus he's a teenager/young adult trying to do what's right and constantly finding it hard to make the right decisions. If they didn't show his struggles as Peter Parker you wouldn't be able to relate to him as well.

the scene with Spidey and the guy in the elevator was damn funny!!!! also "rain drops keep fallin on my head" was great!

word cantdog - I'm thinking they're setting up MJ's ex-fiancee the astronaut to become Venom, or at least plays some role in bringing the alien life form that turns Eddie Brock into Venom in the comics.

i loved the film - for the first time in a comic book movie, i felt like the action sequences really captured the feel of the comic book.

Its been a few years since I've read comics but in the opening credits I immediately recognized the drawing as work from Alex Ross, the fella who drew the Kingdom Come graphic novel mini-series a few years back as well as doing some work with McFarlane for Spawn. Anyway, if you are a comic fan hunt down Kingdom Come, its an awesome miniseries. Synopsis: What happens when all the superheros get old.

Man, looking back I have a lot of great stuff. Spawn 1-100, X Files 1-40, the entire death of superman up until he was reincarnated, the early Venom stuff, not to mention a ton of autographed Silver Surfer/Green Lantern. Best of all, I found a shitload of porn between the comics!

I really liked this movie. The fight scenes were awesome, especially the train. Well acted, well written, and the CG was great except for the last 10 seconds (why skimp here?). Also the post wedding park scene was super corny. Still though, I'd give it 9.5 out of 10.

Better than Batman? Hmmmm...dunno about that. That movie was brilliant.

But here's what this movie should have been for the extra .5 point...

I'm thinking they're setting up MJ's ex-fiancee the astronaut to become Venom, or at least plays some role in bringing the alien life form that turns Eddie Brock into Venom in the comics.

In the comic book series, MJ's ex becomes Man-Wolf due to exposure to "moon crystals". These crystals cause him to develop superhuman strength and they eventually transform him into a half-wolf, half-man creature. Sounds too hokey for a movie audience though.

Actually, Spiderman "finds" the alien spidey-suit during the Secret Wars, when he is transported to a distant satellite with a bunch of other superheros and supervillians to fight each other for the amusement of The Beyonder. Spiderman wrecks his suit and finds a suit making machine that produces the alien suit, which he puts on and takes back with him after beating The Beyonder. He later discovers that the suit is a life form and gets rid of it.

I think the following are the most likely villians for Spiderman3::

The Lizard: Dylan Baker plays Dr. Curt Conners (what's up with all the alliteration in the Spiderman world? Peter Parker, Curt Conners?!?). In the comic book series, Conners loses an arm and then trys to re-grow the limb the way reptiles do. The treatment goes awry, imagine that, and he becomes the Lizard.

Green Goblin: Actually Harry does not become the Hobgoblin. Roderick Kingsley becomes that villian. Harry does become the Green Goblin, or Green Goblin II (technically). Bart Hamilton also goes on to become the Green Goblin (Green Goblin III).

I'd LIKE to see either Venom or Carnage though.

See I'm thinking that they arent going to introduce Kingsley, because he frames Ned Leeds to be the hobgoblin, who also hasnt been in the movies yet.

If Harry does become Green Goblin II, and the movie stays close to the comic, Harry will die from the green goblin injections and it will be revealed that Norman isnt dead, and will come back as green goblin.(albeit several green goblin incarnations later)

Venom and Carnage would be the best bets I think, because they were powerful enough to rival spideys own power. Spiderman couldnt use his spider sense around Venom and Carnage. Since all the villians in the movie have had some sort of niceness in them, Venom would make sense because he wouldnt kill innocent bystanders...Carnage on the other hand was a serial murderer who found the costume.

Yup, I'm a total geek. I was WAY into Spiderman, Hulk, and X-Men as a kid. I had the mondo comic book collection, which was subsequently tossed by my wife. ARGH! I had some really valuable ones in there.

Edit to add this:
Cant - in the most recent comics Carnage somehow got Silver Surfer's board and now has "cosmic" power. He/it is a total badass.

And she is still your wife?

Of course my grandma did the same to my dad's collection. And considering he started reading comics in the late 40s/early 50s...there were some valuable ones. He also used to tell stories of putting mickey mantle rookie cards in his bike spokes. Its a shame all of its gone.

whoa, carnage with a surfboard? I wonder who is writing it now, my cousin used to write green latern/arrow and silver surfer comics(ron marz). Id say about half of my collection is free comics he used to send me autographed by himself and the illustrator. Pretty cool stuff.

and we still haven't seen the Rhino, the Shocker or King Pin!!! I wonder how many Spidey movies they will make?? Rhino and Shocker, who wouldn't really need a background story, could work for King Pin with Venom as the main bad guy....that would be the balls.

I think we are all in agreement that Venom would be the best super-villain for the next movie.

Slider- wow buddy, you just killed it! Good info!

quick side note: my mom threw away all my comic books when I moved out of my parent's house...most of them probably weren't worth anything...Groo the Wanderer, Xmen series during age of Apoclypse (best villan ever!) and assorted other comics, but still...it's a bummer. I have a sizeable Playboy collection, I don't look at them much, but I figured I'd save them so that one day, if I ever have a son, he can discover them in the attic and freak out. Course.....he'd probably bring them into school to show his buddies.....and get caught....and in trouble.....but isn't that how most of us learned about boobies anyways?!?

Dunst is only signed on for one more, so either they kill her off or bring in a new MJ. If she is killed off they could bring in Betty Brant or Gwen Stacy...but they would be out of order, so its probably not likely to happen.

Meh....Dunst......except for the "in the rain, upside-down-spidey, nipple-banging TURKEY'S DONE! kiss" she didn't do much for me. Drop her and bring in Angie Everhardt, she's already a red head, incredilby sexy and.......fucking hot yo. It could be like "Peter is all growsed up!" and MJ is now a super model and all.

quick geek side note: the spiderman2 game for Xbox, though a little bit repetive, is INCREDIBLY fun!!!

Edit: Kraven the Hunter!?!?!? Mysterio!??!?! DR.FRICKINDOOM!?!??!?!? soooo many possibilities

I saw it on Monday. Great movie. The internal struggles of Peter brought a lot to the movie in my opinion. As far as the next villian I think it will be the Green Goblin II or Hobgoblin (Harry Osborne). This will allow the writers to further show how Peter is struggling with being Spiderman now that his arch nemisis is also his best friend.

The fight between Spiderman and Doc Ock on the train was the best I've seen to date.

I guess I'm the voice of dissent here. I thought it was pretty terrible. Yeah, the effects were cool. But there were too many things I didn't like.

It was directed like it was a horror film. I know Sam Raimi cut his teeth making Evil Dead movies, but there were too many cheeesy slasher flick edits. Doesn't work in a comic book movie. It also seemed to be trying too hard to be dark or something. Also too many overly cute kids. Note to Raimi: saccharine kills.

Finally, as an NYC purist, I hate it when they stage scenes in places that don't even exist in NYC. There is no El-Train in midtown Manhattan.

I'm with Plake. This movie wasn't just bad, it was terrible.
It was predictable and lame. "Oh gee, I have to deliver these pizzas in 7 minutes or I'll lose my job. Good thing I'm spiderman and I can just fly there" No element of surprise. Same goes for the rest of the movie: there was no doubt in my mind he was going to stop that runaway subway train, that he was going to go back to being spiderman, and that he was going to get the girl in the end.

There were also a lot of inconsistencies that really bothered me, such as when what ever his name is tried to jump building to building and didn't make it. That kid fell 5-10 stories and landed on a car hood and he got up and walked away. Uhhh excuse me? I don't think a close line can break your fall. Also, I'm no scientist but I don't think you can destroy massive amounts of energy by dropping it into a river...

Everything else seemed forced, especially the puppy dog love between toby maguire and that other chick. I cringed through every one of those scenes. It was like watching AKPM try to get laid. I also think Toby Maguire is a bad actor, and that he doesn't fit the part at all. He's too soft spoken. Even for a dork. He also looks goofy.

All in all, it was a bad movie with a few good scenes....a real sleeper though in my opinion. :o

edit: I guess if you're into the comic book thing and have always liked spiderman I can see why you might like this movie. It definitely had a comic book feel to it, but it just didn't do anything for me. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Dude, he's spiderman. Its not a true story. You cant complain about something not being real when the entire thing is made up. And as far as being predictable...well, its based on the comic book, so everything has already happened. And what would you expect? Hey, lets kill spiderman half way through the movie in the subway scene, and then he wont get the girl. You cant walk into a movie like that expecting it to be the next Godfather. Did Jurassic Park bother you because dinosaurs are already dead?

I gotta agree with Cant. Spiderman's a SUPERHERO for fuck sake. Of course he's gonna beat the bad guy.

Besides, don't you know by now - rivers (or other big bodies of water) solve everything. This is a long standing truism in moviedom. Yep, just dump the problem into the river/lake/ocean and all your worries are over.
