Why not? It is appropriate.
This weekend I heard them play Right Now by Van Halen as part of the Sarah Palin speech gathering in Carson City.
They even played a Stevie Wonder song (he played live at the Democratic Convention.)
Others:
Jackson Browne - Running on Empty
Heart - Barracuda
Orleans - Still the One
Frankie Valli - Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You

Thanks for the wine infused music fueled flashback!
For some reason reminds me of a party I had just after high school (graduated in '81). Still lived with my Dad that year, in a new condo he had just purchased. When he went off to Minnesota to visit family for a week, I had a fuckn great party with good friends. Here in Brew Town we knew how to throw down!
We drank like fish and had a blast... A few quarter barrels were consumed among not a huge number of people. My two vivid memories are (for some idiotic reason) agreeing to fist pound an electric burner glowing on the high setting while Billy Idol's White Wedding was blaring. I had a faint coil mark burned on my wrist for a couple weeks, maybe even months? :rolleyes2
Also, many people just crashed there... all three bedrooms were full plus couches and floors in LR etc. At like 3:30 AM as I was shutting everything down and throwing away half full glasses and such, realized whole place STUNK like beer and entire floor in kitchen and eating area was super sticky as you walked across it; so got a bucket with warm soapy water and a rag and hand washed entire floor on hands and knees - to the bane of those trying to crash on the floor in the next room looking for dark. It took a couple years before I finally shook the "Mr. Clean" tag with a few friends. :D
Anyway... thanks! [/thread hi-jack]
Edit: think it would be appropriate for each post to link/inline a youtube?

2nd Edit: Oh, yeah. (http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1983565&postcount=150) :p
Listening to White Wedding makes me think of Palin and her daughter.
It also reminds me of how great Billy Idol's appearance in The Wedding Singer is.

According to the www, Sammy Hagar who wrote the song is cool with McCain using the song...just proves that he's still a fucking loser and ditching David Lee Roth at the prime of Van Halen was still a huge mistake.

They don't need permission. They paid for the licenses
to use those songs.
Heart is donating the money earned from "Barracuda" to Obama.

While I agree that VanHagar sucked rat balls, Hagar (with the possible exception of Mark Anthony) was the only normal guy in that band. Gebster - let go of the hatred. Let it go.

Maybe they could pull off "Jet City Woman" by Queensryke for Palin and her adventurous flight back to give birth to the Down's kid...I know it's about Seattle and all, but mabye AK would work since it's in the extreem PacNW
^^^^^^
Man, Adolf - you are some kind of 80's hairmetal expert.
You want a Dio album? I mean vinyl. I'll ship it to ya.

Tempting...but I don't have a record player...I'm sure you could slang that on ebay for killer duckets...where was Dio from anyhow, England somewhere? They did make some awesome videos.
I've got like two Dio albums (Holy Diver and some shitty one), VanHalen's 1984, Metalica's Garage Days Revisited, The Randy-era Ozzy albums, the first four Black Sabbath albums, and everything by Rush up until Grace Under Pressure. And a Steve Howe solo album. And some Cat Stevens. And some Suicidal Tendencies. And Triumph's Allied Forces. That's it, I think. And a Darkthrone album. I used to have that Bob and Doug McEnzie album, but some bastard stole it. And a Dave Gilmour solo album. And some Syd Barret albums. And Reign in Blood by Slayer. I think I have Desolation Blvd too. Oh yeah - and Dream Police by Cheap Trick. That's all. And some Deep Purple. And all the Led Zeppelin albums except Presence.

The nights are so lonely
The days are so long
I'm in the jailhouse
Cause they say I've done wrong
I don't say I'm sorry
I just say I'm sore
The reason I'm goin'
Is there's blood on the floor

Actually I think he's from somewhere in upstate New York. For some reason Cortland rings a bell.
Do not ask me why I remember this.

Wow nice flashback. I went to a Thompson Twins concert with some chick in HS. Actually a pretty decent show, they were much better than Howard Jones and Aha. I always liked the girls these type of shows brought out.

My highschool and beyond girlfriend looked a lot like that chick in the Aha video. That guy in Aha had a pretty killer voice! They're still reletively big in Norway.
I saw Metallica at The Carlton right after they released Kill 'em All. That really blew my freakin' mind.
