That's awesome... pure awesome
Wow, she's got the accent an look down, perfect!
That was one of the best intro's I've ever seen for that show! Both of them were money!
That was great.
Sarah Palin spoke in Carson City today. I was there and I noticed that she added another move to her political speeches. She is using the closed-thumb-point which was used so well by Bill Clinton.

Spot on impersonation. I like her better than the real Palin!
She is using the closed-thumb-point which was used so well by Bill Clinton.
i have been bugged by the closed index finger point for a few years until i read a psychology article discussing the effect of "pointing" on adolescent education: apparently, at a young age, we have developed a displeasure with having a finger pointed at us. on the other hand we tend to use the finger a lot when trying to make a point or an argument as we grow older (switching to the other side of the kid's view).
consequently, someone decided that politicians can still keep "making a point" by shaking a closed fist without invoking the buried childhood memories of the pointed finger in the listeners.
admittedly it works better than banging a shoe on the table of the UN, but it's also an indicator of who's been getting the "speaking in public and in front of cameras" training.

The whole body language acting thing is so freakin ridiculous. Be who you are not what some damn book says. To me it's more phony then anything else in politics. The worse is the 5 point finger touching thing. That is so painful to watch. Like the whole time you can see the person trying to keep their fingertips touched, and that is suppose to be relaxing lol. It looks so unnatural too.
The whole body language acting thing is so freakin ridiculous.
Ah, but, you see, body language is actually much more important than rational thought: it has been the key to our survival for so long. I could be the most eloquent speaker with the best philosophical ideas in the world, or simply with a solution to all the world's problems, still, if I speak using a threatening pose or demeanor you will be much less likely to pay heed to what I'm saying.
Rational thought has had much less time to evolve than body language, and, even though we block it out in the neocortex and don't talk openly about it, we have to thank all the herds to which we belonged for millions of years for the fact that a woman in estrous talking to us would be much more appealing than Plato or Aristoteles :)

It's also an indicator that the electorate is swayed by superficial nothings rather than ideas. :nonono2:

Aristo-who?
I also take issue with your idea about rational thought needing time to "evolve". How will we know when it has reached maximum rationality?

I punctuate most of my public speaking with multiple bird flips. I've found it effective in making my points. And it's not just window dressing either: I can convey a lot of important information that way.

Funniest SNL skit in years. I have been laughing all weekend.
Comedians will be voting the McCain/Palin ticket just for the 4 years of easy material.
Tina Fey may even vote repub just for the job security. I hope she plays Palin every week.
As I have learned you cannot, absolutely not, joke about Obama. People are very very angry at even the slightest rub.
I can joke about Bush, Hillary, Biden, Cheney, Palin and never get a call. But mention Obama and look out.

No the rest of the show absolutely horrendous. The opening skit had me laughing but the writers must have left after that. Phelps was no Jordan Shaq or Manning....

Too bad you can't show that mad magazine/obama avatar on the radio, because it's hilarious. It's hard not to laugh out loud whenever I see it.

It cracks me up too. still does.
I just wear it as a cut-out mask on the air as I am talking...no one knows but me and Alfred E Obama.
I wish Obama hadn't canceled his appearance on SNL this weekend. That might have left the writers in a bit of trouble since he pulled out at the last minute. They work hard all week to get SNL to suck that bad.

Tina Fey `likely' to play Sarah Palin on `SNL'
By JAKE COYLE
NEW YORK (AP) — Tina Fey is "likely" to play Gov. Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live," said a person close to NBC's sketch comedy show.
Fey is "likely" to return to her former show Saturday to play the Alaskan governor and Sen. John McCain's running mate, a person close to the show told The Associated Press on Friday night. The person requested anonymity because the decision has not been announced officially. No further details were available.
Since Palin's entry onto the national political stage, speculation has been rampant over who might play Palin on the program. Many have commented that Fey resembles her.
In an interview earlier this week with The AP, "SNL" executive producer and creator Lorne Michaels said, "The whole world cast her in that role."
The final decision went down to the last minute, apparently. "SNL" premieres Saturday evening with Michael Phelps as host and a planned appearance from Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee for president.
Fey was a cast member and writer — including a stint as head writer — for "SNL" for nine years before leaving in 2006 to star in "30 Rock," which is also produced by Michaels. On Tuesday, Michaels said that should Fey play Palin, she was unlikely to remain in the part in the long-term, which depending on the election results, could be for four years or longer.
Fey's publicist did not immediately return a call requesting comment.
This is after her appearance:

Will Tina Fey encore on 'SNL' as Sarah Palin?
By FRAZIER MOORE – 4 hours ago
NEW YORK (AP) — Never mind all those questions about who will win the election: The more pressing concern for many viewers is whether Tina Fey will return to play Gov. Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live."
The guest appearance by the show's former cast member and head writer was by all accounts a virtuoso impersonation and a viral hit. But Fey stars in NBC's weekly prime-time comedy "30 Rock," and it's unclear if she'll be moonlighting on "SNL" to skewer the Republican vice presidential candidate, to whom she bears a much-remarked-upon resemblance.
Fey — and the will-she-or-won't-she suspense that preceded her appearance — helped make NBC's "Saturday Night Live" a ratings smash in its season kickoff (which was hosted by Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps).
Then the 5 1/2-minute segment pairing Fey with cast-member Amy Poehler (as Sen. Hillary Clinton) also has become a global Internet sensation.
The voters, um, viewers seemed to have spoken. In preliminary numbers measuring the nation's major cities, "SNL's" 34th-season premiere logged a 7.4 rating and 18 percent share of audience — the largest viewership for a "SNL" season debut since 2001, and up 64 percent from last year's opener, according to Nielsen Media Research.
(For this survey, a ratings point represents approximately 780,000 households. The share is the percentage of in-use televisions tuned to a given show.)
With the Alaska governor poised to be a prominent part of the political race through Election Day as Sen. John McCain's running mate, and possibly serving as vice president after that, there's little doubt she'll be spoofed again by "SNL," which historically has had particular relevance in its political parodies.
Will Fey be back in the role?
"We are taking it day-by-day," said "SNL" spokesman Marc Liepis on Monday.
Could she be back as soon as this Saturday's show?
"We don't even have a script written yet," Liepis replied.
Under any circumstances, it was unlikely Fey would make an encore appearance on this week's "SNL," in as much as the New York-based show will air the night before Sunday's Emmy broadcast, live from Los Angeles. With "30 Rock" having snagged several nominations, including Fey as best comic actress, she is expected to be on hand for those festivities.
For the long term, "SNL" executive producer Lorne Michaels reportedly has an as-yet-undisclosed "Plan B" and "Plan C" for a Palin impersonator, in lieu of Fey.
In the meantime, as Liepis noted, "She has a day job."

Sarah Palin to appear on SNL (http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/TV/10/16/palin.snl/index.html)
updated 3:04 a.m. EDT, Fri October 17, 2008
(CNN) -- Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin plans to appear on "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, multiple sources told CNN Thursday.
"Saturday Night Live" has featured three opening skits in which former cast member and Palin lookalike Tina Fey portrays the Alaska governor.
It was not known whether Fey also will appear on Saturday night's program.
The live comedy program airs on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET.
Fey first appeared as Palin for the show's season premiere last month in a sketch with SNL cast member Amy Poehler, who played Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Fey reprised her role as Palin two weeks later, again alongside Poehler, who played CBS's Katie Couric in a parody of Palin's interview with the CBS anchor earlier that week.
Earlier this week, Palin told reporters that she'd love to appear on the show with Fey, The Associated Press reported.
"I love her, she's a hoot and she's so talented," Palin said, according to the AP.
"It would be fun to meet her, imitate her and keep on giving her new material."

McCain On Saturday Night Live For Last Pre-Election Show (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/31/mccain-on-saturday-night_n_139580.html)
WASHINGTON - John McCain is set to appear on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" just three days before the presidential election.
Aides say the Republican presidential candidate will make a detour from battleground states to the late-night weekend show that has been a must-watch for many during the political season.
Earlier this month, McCain running mate Sarah Palin and her impersonator, Tina Fey, earned "Saturday Night Live" its best ratings in 14 years. Palin's guest shot had been widely anticipated since Fey began imitating her a month ago.
McCain last appeared on the show in May, after clinching the nomination and while the Democratic primary continued.
McCain hosted "SNL" in 2002.

Olbermann crashes SNL set (http://www.politico.com/blogs/michaelcalderone/1008/Olbermann_crashes_SNL_set_.html)
Ben Affleck, who’s hosting “Saturday Night Live” this week, was rehearsing a skit this afternoon mocking Keith Olbermann when Olbermann himself got past security to watch, according to a source with knowledge of the incident.
A source described the skit as “savage,” in portraying Olbermann as a deranged person living at home with his mother. Affleck, said a source, became uneasy with Olbermann in attendance at the 3 p.m., closed-set rehearsal.
But Olbermann, through a spokesman, was complimentary on his first time being mocked on "SNL" — a position his MSNBC colleague Chris Matthews has been in over the years.
“I’m not Sarah Palin,” Olbermann said. “I know how valuable it is to me. And it’s funny."
John McCain is expected to be on tomorrow night, but there’s no word if he’s involved at all in this skit.
An SNL representative declined to comment.

Since when is reality "savage"?

That threw me for a loop as well. So much so that I almost considered the possibility that McCain has a sense of humor. But then we all know that only Democrats can appreciate humor. Look at me for example. All my posts are dead serious. Not a funny bone in my body.
In the end I concluded that McCain's behavior was atrributed to some whacky, really far-out tinfoil-hat conspiracy. I remember seeing GWB laugh a few times - brain transplant? Has Bush made any public appearences lately? Makes you think, doesn't it?
