Under the Palin Mayorship (http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/523708.html)

Maybe she knew.
Maybe she didn't.

But that is some pretty classy shit there by the Cheif of Police without a doubt.

(wheee have a flamingo bitches!)

That's kinda fucked up.

They should also add a shipping and handling fee.

Meh.... Rape victims

They were probably asking for it anyway.

Damn socialized police forces.

Do rap kits include turntables? 'Cause those could get damned expensive.

Rap kit now comes with Wu-Tang style. Caps for busting not included.

They come with enough ice to cover the upper torso, headphones, bandana, microphone, and a fake rolex.

Ththis is beyond reaching Really? The program was put in place by her hand-picked chief of police (whom she later fired for "not fully supporting her efforts to govern"), put into practice by another chief she appointed, and she signed the budget that approved the practice- it's in here (http://www.cityofwasilla.com/index.aspx?page=136) somewhere, I can't find it right now.

I heard she wears dirty panties sometimes... clearly unfit for office because of it...

Or maybe she's a bad choice because I don't like her platforms.

Apparently, Wasilla was the only municipality in Alaska to do so. And it was so outrageous that the legislature passed a bill requiring municipalities to cover the kits.

OK... now a serious response;

Despite the title in the linked article below, looks like there is no evidence Palin personally directed this change at this point, but it's clear her choice for Police chief specifically cut those funds from the budget and Palin signed off on it...

New Evidence: Palin Had Direct Role In Charging Rape Victims For Exams (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jacob-alperinsheriff/sarah-palin-instituted-ra_b_125833.html)

Despite denials by the Palin campaign, new evidence proves that as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, Sarah Palin had a direct hand in imposing fees to pay for post-sexual assault medical exams conducted by the city to gather evidence.

Palin's role is now confirmed by Wasilla City budget documents available online.

Under Sarah Palin's administration, Wasilla cut funds that had previously paid for the medical exams and began charging victims or their health insurers the $500 to $1200 fees. Although Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella wrote USA Today earlier this week that the GOP vice presidential nominee "does not believe, nor has she ever believed, that rape victims should have to pay for an evidence-gathering test...To suggest otherwise is a deliberate misrepresentation of her commitment to supporting victims and bringing violent criminals to justice," Palin, as mayor, fired police chief Irl Stambaugh and replaced him with Charlie Fannon, who with Palin's knowledge, slashed the budget for the exams and began charging the city's victims of sexual assault. The city budget documents demonstrate Palin read and signed off on the new budget. A year later, alarmed Alaska lawmakers passed legislation outlawing the practice.

It's worse than that. I heard she tried to make her daughter wear a Baby Jesus Anti-Fornication Thong and in protest her daughter didn't wear any panties and that's why she is pregnant.

No smoking gun yet, and her actions with regards to domestic abuse while Governor don't suggest she would have such intent. It is interesting that it took the legislature to change it. Did people go directly to the legislature with their complaints to get action in changing the policy, without bringing this to the city council first? If they did, can you think of why?

My surmise is that if they went to the legislature, and bypassed the city council and Palin, they probably did so because they felt she wouldn't be sympathetic to their position, or it could be that they did so to make her look bad, a local rivalry or something. Could be both.

There is the possibility that it was approved by her with her full knowledge and consent, but I find that to be the least likely scenario. Likely it was a line in a budget that she signed off on and she didn't fully read all of the items to find out what they all were. Perhaps that is why she went crazy cutting items from the state budget, even whacking wholly necessary programs, because she didn't look at what they were first.

I'm betting that she didn't look before signing.

Just how many sexual assault kits do they need in Wasilla??? They could probably just use the "best by Oct 23rd, 2005" ones left over from a real city like Detroit...

Palin = Probably more secretive and more vindicitve than Cheney (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/us/politics/14palin.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&hp)

WASILLA, Alaska — Gov. Sarah Palin lives by the maxim that all politics is local, not to mention personal.

So when there was a vacancy at the top of the State Division of Agriculture, she appointed a high school classmate, Franci Havemeister, to the $95,000-a-year directorship. A former real estate agent, Ms. Havemeister cited her childhood love of cows as one of her qualifications for running the roughly $2 million agency.

Ms. Havemeister was one of at least five schoolmates Ms. Palin hired, often at salaries far exceeding their private sector wages.

Way to go John. Some reformer.

One Hamm's so: not at all.

Go ahead and read the thing. Even accounting for a healthy dose of liberal bias it isn't that nice.

That's the scary part. It was something like $12-14,000 worth of kits, at anywhere from $800-1500 apiece. Alaska has the worst rape rate in the nation. (these are the figures I remember from NPR).

It's really kinda sad how the dickbag media is "exposing" every tiny aspect of Palin's life now.

Especially since they have yet to really talk about that 12 year old boy that Biden raped back in 1995 or all the bribes he's taken from the Nazi Party or that time in 1998 when he got whacked on PCP and drove his car into that shopping mall. Where's the media scrutiny of Obama selling crack to 6 year olds when he was a community organiser?

the media is playing catch-up. they have weeks to do what they had months/years to do with the rest of the field. i give it another week or two and everything settles down.

you're not worried about your boy mccain losing are you?

You're right. They've had a year so far to dig into Obama's past. I'll bet they start any day now. And that guy who's running with Obama - what's his name again??

They're gonna keep attacking Palin until the election - it's the only card they have left. What have they got to lose?
