It seems in America shit has hit the fan. Greedy corporations screwing citizens over left and right, our own government shitting on the constitution and selling out our children's future, and our politicians lying and doing whatever necessary to get elected.

The political campaign process needs to be regulated. Just like our small children need to be supervised while they play. So what do you do with the politician?

Well, here's what I would do.

1) Candidates must officially declare their positions on all of the major issues. These are set in stone and posted in the public domain. If he or she wants to change their position that's ok. However, it will be noted and that will also be posted in the public domain.

2) Candidates biography and resume must also be officially posted in the public domain. These will be vetted and approved by committee (see below).

3) As with the above requirements, postings in the public domain will be well known to all citizens and easily accessible to all by Internet. A pamphlet with all of the above information, including all the candidates, will be mailed to all citizens and be readily available to all at U.S. Post offices.

4) Candidates must take an oath to conduct their campaigns in an honorable manner. That includes no name calling, no lying, no smearing, and in general no douchebaggery.

5) A Presidential Campaign Ethics Committee will consist of all the living former U.S. Presidents and Vice Presidents. It is their duty to protect the integrity of the political process. The committee will place and enforce sanctions on candidates who violate any ethics rules. Any sanctions against a candidate will be amended to their "public profile" and posted in the public domain.

6) Sanctions - ???

7) A public service campaign to educate the public on these new procedures. Including discussions on responsible voting.

Just something I've been thinking about lately. So what do you think about this people?

Oh ya... the media also needs to be held accountable for shady reporting and propagating nonsense.

Give 'em a full battery of cognitive function tests, repeatedly, including emotional and social components. Under stress.

Post all results and analyses in full.
Do the same for the pundits who decide to rant about 'em.

The problem, imnvho, is that there are far too few politicians in relation to the population. The population has grown much faster than the number of politicians representing them.
Makes things much more efficient for lobbyists, though.

I'm not sure I'm with you. So more politicians would do what?
