What I'm saying is her high approval rating is most likely due to the fact that she's handed out a kickback to individuals. That makes people likely to disregard anything else she may do politically or any potentially opposing viewpoints she might hold. As long as on a very immediate tangible level a person is better off thanks to a politician, they will most likely approve of their performance.

And I completely agree that a windfall profits tax on oil companies, or at least a cut in tax breaks to them is in order. However, I don't think it should be distributed to the people as a cash dividend, but rather used towards the spiraling federal debt. People need to accept the reality that in the long term you can't cut federal revenue while at the same time increasing spending. Sure, you can cut non-critical or ineffective programs, but I feel that we're running out of those.

So far i liked last weeks episode better. I thought Palin's delivery was decent and composed but her inflection lacked terribly.

80% of Alaskans approve of her performance because 80% of Alaskans don't live in Juneau, Work for the State, or pay attention. Furthermore she got us each $1200 to pay for gas, bribing people works great, as we have seen in recent and ongoing corruption investigations.

She represents the valley especially well though, getting her home district stupid projects while vetoing similar projects from the rest of the state.

Her staff is stalling an Alaska state senate investigation into her alleged misconduct and abuse of power.

She won the election because 60 percent of the state voted for the two qualified candidates for the job.

So I actually work for Sarah Palin (well she signs my paychecks) and she is an arrogant prick like the rest of the valley trash she represents. I know people who have turned down lucrative jobs under her because she's such a bitch... Literally... She was a horrible mayor of Wasilla (a horrible place, which got worse under Palin) she's a horrible governor of Alaska (she doesn't even understand how state government works).

I guess the silver lining is that if John McCain gets elected she will get the fuck out of our state... At least Sean Parnell doesn't treat public office like the Ms. Alaska pagent.

Also where the hell do we import natural gas from besides canada? Is that possible? And the natural gas pipeline she just talked about hasn't been started other than we gave away $500 million for a foreign company to build a pipeline but they can just take the money and run if they want...

I wonder if she realizes that the north slope oil was suppose to have run out by 2000? I also wonder if the state of Alaska didn't select ANWR when it had the chance, and chevron didn't wan't to drill ANWR because there wasn't oil there.

Well, sometimes I forget that you are capable of compromise. Some people oppose ALL mining, some people only oppose "inappropriate" mines. Problem is, once there is enough core to convinve the company that the project returns a high enough IRR, the Forest Service will also typically find that mining is should be the use of the given land. On the other hand, if you let them drill the shit out of it and it doesn't pay, then the monkey is off your back pretty quickly and all you have is some drill pad reclamation.
