I want Obama to win. While I have respect for moderate secular republicans and find much common ground with them, I despise the christian right. The last eight years have been a nightmare for this country. For this reason I want these Palin scandals to go away. If she gets much more heat she will be dumped and McCain will get a second chance to make a more appropriate pick.
Palin draws the line cleanly between the McCain and Obama camps. Last nights republican convention also drew a clean line. The Republicans are painting themselves into a corner that only the radical right can cleanly embrace and which I do not believe the American people will find attractive. If they do find it attractive and choose to vote for McCain/Palin then so be it. We are fucked and I can plan my life accordingly.
Nothing is ever so simple but I think that I need Obama to be elected for closure. I want the big fuck you to be delivered to Mr. Bush and for the country to move forward.

I will. The outcome of this election is far from decided.
Part of that plan will include protecting my assets for the moment in time that our dollar collapses from the anti-tax borrow and spend philosophy of the right. I've been doing that anyway.

If he does win I'd rather he do it with Palin at his side than pretending to be a democrat or moderate republican. That way I will know for sure that our electorate is clueless. That will be closure for me the same as an Obama/Biden victory.

Are you gonna get off the sidelines or just gripe about the outcome like last time?

^^^I am not firmly in the Obama camp yet, but damn close. Probably will be after Thursday night. Hell, Palin's speech will probably do it. I am looking forward to it, but only for entertainment value.
I may still take you up on that.

Bump. Need to keep this Palin thread on the front page.
I always give a little money to my candidates Witherspoon. I've already given away a little bit of money for this election cycle, though not yet to Obama. I do plan on giving him a few bucks though.

Truth. Palin energizes the Christian base, but any "fiscal" conservative has to be appalled at her financial track record. The "Ron Paul" republicans have to be offended at her attempts at banning books she doesn't agree with in Wasilla's public library. And there's no way a disgruntled Hilary supporter would cross the aisle to vote for someone that wants to criminalize abortion just because she, too, has a vagina.
Palin being picked is the best thing that could've happened to Obama's campaign, and the polling is already reflecting that. Once the rest of the dirt on her comes to the surface McCain is screwed.

Good stuff. For anyone not willing to click the link, its basically a Reagan speechwritier and a semi-formal McCain operative saying the decision to pick Palin is bullshit, and this election is over.

You mean to tell me that there is still some doubt in your mind?

Yeah, I believe in democracy still and in light of recent developments I am trying to stay positive. I am worried about the dollar more than ever though, something I had hoped an Obama election would alleviate. Unfortunately we still are catering to people who don't believe you have to pay to play and a zillion other problems that are bankrupting this country.
