Sometime in the next 6 months I am going to try and get me either a Dirtbag or a Preston. I am exactly 6' tall, should I be looking at Mediums or Larges?

I would go for the large. For some reason the TT length on transitions is insanely short.

I think it depends on whether you're going to be doing more pedaling (medium) or just shuttling (large), but that's just what I've gleaned from browsing the Transition forum at MTBR.

I will be insanely jealous if you get a preston, and since I want one and am exactly 6' as well, I'll be watching this thread. I was thinking M if your riding is mostly on the down and technical where you want the bike to be able to move freely beneath you, and L if you were going to run it XCish. I have a 24" tt on my current trailbike (cowan ds) and it certainly doesn't feel too long. I don't think either size is proper, just more towards what you want to do.

What is your current bike? Compare tt length to it and judge how you liked how it rode.

Also as SSD has mentioned how much climbing vs shuttling will you be doing?

What stem length do you plan to run?

I about 6ft and the mediums fit me well, but I was accustom to a really long tt on my old bike. In the end I went with medium Covert.

I am riding a Prophet right no thats sized Large. I think it has a 110mm stem right now, whatever is stock. I would definitely go for a short stem on what will be my Freeride/Shuttling bike. The other thing I have to figure out is if I want to sell the Prophet and get a more pure XC bike for trail riding.

decisions decisions...

Perhaps the rules changed when dudes started wearing girly pants, but if I'm in the middle on sizing, I've always sized down for a freeridey type bike and sized up for a climber.

I would say a large for you. I'm just 5'8" and my medium Preston fits me like a glove for DH, freeride and jumping.

I also have a covert but ride this in a small. The fit is about the same as the medium Preston.

FWIW i am 6'2'' and would ride a preston as the large with a short stem, and would run a medium dirtbag. i had a large dirtbag, but it always felt a little long of a wheelbase for jumping and such, at least with a 180mm fork on it.

as bag's said,

dh bikes = smaller
pedally bikes = bigger

if you are not already getting a deal on one, feel free to give me a holler and i'll style you too.

Right, sorry, I'm a. an idiot and b. often edit posts to the point of incomprehensibility.

I, too, have a medium dirtbag (older style) that I'm trying to get rid of. Pm me if you'd be interested in a cheap full build that is actually nice.

I just got a large Preston and at 6'2"ish it fits pretty well. If anything I feel like it fits a bit small so you should be OK with a large.

Oh and call Marshal for the bike. He'll get you set up.

I'd echo the - bigger for pedaling, smaller for shuttling or downhill fun sentiment.

I'm liking smaller and smaller bikes, FWIW.
