The other great Nabokov books, in my opinion, are Ada and Pale Fire. Pale Fire is almost as great as Lolita.

Laughter in the Dark, Ada, The Defense, The Real Life of Sebastian Night, Bend Sinister, Pnin, Transparent Things, all works of magnificence.

Nabokov devotees: try any of the following by Lawrence Durrell:
The Alexandria Quartet
Tunc
Nunquam (the pair called the Revenge of Aphrodite)
The Avignon Quintet.

Like Nabokov, you don't want them to end.

Have you guys ever read The White Hotel by D.M. Thomas? Infinitely engaging.

Anyone read "Reading Lolita in Tehran"? It's the true story of a women's book club in Iran - lots of comparative lit stuff in there, with some interesting insight into contemporary life for women in Iran. Started it a bit ago - like what I've read. Nabakov fans will appreciate the references.
