This thing deserves to be re-posted here: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=422085

For the Alexander Supertramp in you, this is one of the coolest things I've ever seen done on bikes. Enjoy

Great write up, I read that over at MTBR, Excellent adventure!

The MTB write up came on the heels of another story I read on another forum.
Seriously, when you finish ^^that story...... read this one:

Dalton Highway by Unicycle. (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70267&highlight=alaska)

This kid is even more clueless than most and pulls off an amazing adventure.
It's a long write-up, no pics, but well worth it.

WOW Nice work Kellie.

There was a similar route done somewhere up in AK a number of years ago in Bike mag. They used truck inner tubes instead of those fancy rafts.

If anything this is totally clear.

Only Alaska can provide the level of burl and adventure to keep Kellie entertained.

holy gnar! Seriously hard core, and totally rad. Of course you'd run out of food right where McCandless spent his last days - too crazy!!!

I love that despite the harshest circumstances, Kellie is always smiling. If you snapped a picture of me with a 40 pound pack on my bike miles from nowhere I can guaran-damn-tee I'd be flipping the camera off, not smiling.

You guys are, as always, inspirational!

Kellie, didn't mean to steal your thunder there. I'd be happy to replace my thread with your TR. Very cool stuff indeed!

That looks like the least amount of fun possible to have on a mountain bike. I push my bike sometimes, but at least there is a pay off! Why just bring it as luggage on a cross country suffer fest?

The point was to complete a cool wilderness loop. A bike was the best way to get into the park on human power, and to get out the Stampede Trail. One of the best things about this state is the amount of truly open wilderness - the feeling of being way out there is pretty interesting and addicting. It is sooooo expansive - truly amazing. There was a huge payoff for me in the form of smiling after a great trip with the knowledge that we had an adventure, created new relationships, pushed our bodies, and expanded our concepts of the universe.

That was a fun read. Thanks. It brought back a lot of memories. I lived in Denali for about 5 mos. in the mid 80's. Part of the time at Toklat and part at Kantishna at the very end of the road. My understanding is that the whole park has become more of a tourist destination. Tourist didn't get off the buses when I was there.

It's hard to explain how magnificent that place is and the scale of everything. Having lived there, I have a greater appreciation of your trip.
