I was in a local SF bookstore on Tuesday and they were playing some really cool psychedelic stuff.

I asked the cashier dude what it was and he handed me a CD by a band called The Black Angels.

Whoa!

Good shit.

It's moments like this that actually make me remember why I fell into the whole music industry in the first place. "Discovering" something new (to me, at least) is always a mini-rush and reinvigorates my love of the medium.

I like both their records and they’re great live… if you’re in the right frame of mind.

i just picked up BA's first album, Passover.

listened to it quite a bit on the way up and back from my most recent adventures (those being the "Dookey's Double Dose of Desperation" at Roundtop last Sunday and Saddlebag/Greenstone on Monday).

The song "Manipulation" is sick.

i saw them playing at the same festival as radiohead

check out science killer that was the song that stood out the most to me having no previous knowledge of them prior to the show

I dig quite a bit of their stuff, but feel like if they just got 15% better they'd be amazing. So close.

Man, some of their songs just vibrate your insides! But i agree with andy, some of their shit is just damn close to being spot on. evil things is flat and boring but the sniper is just sick.

if it weren't for the oddly placed solo at the end this would be the best song i have ever heard. paired with a sick video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyUJMawUcf0

^^^ ah. that's it. I knew I'd seen some video with that song in it, and I just couldn't put my finger on it. Awesome video / song.
