Here's my story, my hard drive failed the other day and I got a new one. I was running Windows Vista but I didn't really like it. So when I installed the new hard drive I went to install my old copy of XP Pro, well I got my copy of XP from the company I was working for at the time. Well apparently the corporate key doesn't work anymore I don't know why. So I need to get a new registration key for XP Pro... Oh yea and I'm not willing to pay $140, anybody here upgrade to vista and have a xp pro key laying around? I would appreciate it if somebody could kick one down to me or give me a reasonable price. I don't need the disc mine works fine its my validation key that doesn't work.

Happened to me. I actually tried calling them with the number on the registration screen and they gave me a new key no problem. Maybe you can try that.

If you have a copy of Vista Business you have downgrade rights for XP Pro.

I had vista home premium. I didn't like vista at all. Made my ram run really hot, so hot that my computer would just shut off sometimes. I've tried the vista key and it doesn't work.

Call them, I'm 99% sure they'll give you a new one. I've been doing it for years.

Goddamn those fuckers. My only consolation is that Bill Gates will burn in hell. I called, no luck the company I got it from is out of business and therefore their validation key is no longer valid. Because my OS is apparently "not genuine" I can't download the installer software to circumvent the validation. Basically I'm fucked. I refuse to give Bill Gates one more penny of my money. I guess I'm just fucked. Downloading linux right now, guess I get to learn a new OS quick before summer classes start.

ACHTUNG hooked me up on XP Pro. Even though MS is ending XP support in August, I'm going to format Vista off my drive and go back to XP.
