View Full Version : Once again: Goals for this season

grrrr
10-12-2003, 01:48 PM
Yes, once again, it's time to consider what your goals for the upcoming season are.

Grrrr jr started it by announcing that he was going to do a switch 360 grab. (Never mind that he hasn't even tried a 180 yet, I'm not going to burst his bubble). He also wants to finish first in at least one race, and he wants to get a digicam and start filming.

Me?

1. Top last season's 42 days.
2. More powder.
3. More hiking.
4. Make the summit.
5. More powder.
6. Kirkwood, Mammoth, Jackson Hole, Crystal (besides my usual haunts)
7. There's a line down Hemi I've had my eye on.
8. Did I say more powder?

2. Getting 30+ days
3. Hitting more areas. Small as they are here, there are a few that I haven't gotten to yet.
4. Keeping my knee healthy enough to make it through this season. Decided against surgery, as it would have affected the season. Holding off 'til Spring.
5. Getting back into competitive racing. And along those lines, qualifying for and placing in Nastar Nationals.
6. Generally just going bigger, better & faster.

1) Perfect the moon drop. Improve depth of hole and work on shape of crater. Possibly conspire with Christo to wrap the bombholes with sails or tarps.

2) Evenly distribute a monotheistic layer of plastic virgin mary's across the Silverton glades. Season delicately with several found dildos and a few crates of smegmatic lube and strut cleaner.

3) Deny any allegations of wrong doing, misinformation or flat out stupidity and continue to run this company into the ground like all the other ones I got put in charge of.

4) Get up at absurd hours, drive long distances, ski myself into the ground, have a couple of beers at the Elk and drive home. Avoid people.

5) Wobble out into the magic twirly twirlies, sort out my feet, tell them to stop smiling, bend upwards into the cosmos and let out some really big farts.

I'm not trying to kill some monster line on that big girl, but I wouldn't go without skis. Almost everybody I've talked to about Denali has done some skiing as part of the carries and acclimatization regime. My primary mission would probably be West Rib and West Butt, but it depends on who I can trick into coming along. I need to look into it more, too. I am a light and fast advocate, skis aren't all that light going up, but they can afford time on the descent.
I also have this masochistic idea that I'd ski in up the glacier, but I might just pour battery acid on my nutsack and call it even.

1. Perfect 'The Cadaver' by summit time

2. Not wreck a helmet this season

3. Keep up with SuPu, Tyrone, and the rest of the crew

4. Retake Maggot chute

5. Figure out why I am a rock magnet, and do something about it before I ruin all of my skis

6. Become more comfortable in the air

I am going to try and take it easy and enjoy myself. Not get worked over getting first chair/ tracks. This was my goal last year and it worked out well.

I would like to get a group from the summit to go down to Mammy for a day or two.

Spend more time in the bc earnin' it. Do some more touring in the spring. Maybe take the avy 2 course. Take more pics. Spend about 1 out of 5 days on tele gear.

Been there, done that...

Went from one day a week, to driving two days a week, to scrambling for places to stay on Saturday nights. Last year I started taking off at noon on Fridays just so I could ski Loveland for a couple of hours and call it 3 days of skiing a week. Finally got laid off (go figure) and moved to Summit County. Now I've got a season of skiing every day stretching out in front of me. Life is good.

You got a plan?

Shera -- NO, but i'm beginning to formulate the plan TODAY!

What advice do you have? I am currently in San Francisco in a desk job in the entertainment business, and only slightly overpaid -- considering the significant student loans I have racked up! I am worried I am much too young to be departing the day job without paying back those loans, but what the hell! :D Feel free to PM me -- I'd love to hear how you did it...

I worked in the same business for 15 years, so it's a cool time for me to take a season and ski. I'll start a completely different career at some point. Something in the high country.

But for you...entertainment business sounds like Tahoe for sure. The casinos got megabucks.

Good luck.

3. Roadtrip the French Alps for some sneaky lines - Got that
4. More road jumping - Denied
5. Enjoy the OIE carnage at the summit - Conditions conspired against us
6. Introduce more people to the stoke - just about
7. Relieve Telepath of his Monster 103s - nope
8. Put more maggot names to more maggot faces - definitely
9. Wreck a few ski poles - Sorry Splat
10. Ski Extra Chute at Squaw's Palisades on snowlerblades ;) - Reg didn't trust me with his blades so I did it on skis

I achieved more than I expected to this season, nailing a few flips and skiing some great lines in La Grave. The road jumping itch remains to be scratched...
