I missed this whole thing, but just wanted to know how everyone felt. Who of the old maggots are here? I have always lurked around this forum too. Is this our new home? Are we still maggots or are we minions now?

How do I get a cool picture next to my name? Do you get to choose your own status name? Is D-day here or is he already on to the next new one?

I been hanging around both boards, I'm still more comfortable on the Powder board. I missed the Daniel thing too.... It kinda does suck that all the older posts got deleted, I was searching for an old Tech talk post there the other day and it no longer exists. Oh well... It seems like most of the Maggots are getting over it and comming back to Pow. I think people are getting restless waiting for ski season and get their panties in a knot easily... I know I am (getting restless that is...lol) We are startiing to see dustings of snow on the peaks these days though, that's encouraging.
Cheers!!!

hey Ace,
artist formerly known as D-day here. a lot of things summed up at length
here (http://forum.powdermag.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=022535;p=2) I imploded old d-day log in.
fkkin corp hoes. straw on the back of the dromedary. love to seePM brak out.

any how
CO has made a lot of changes, as an oldtimer here like you can see, all based on our comments. & he has always more been one of us as you know better than most.
he revamped things ground up which was great aside from:

woodsy->mud. I posted some stupid (like get jailtime for viewing stupid) photos & changed my "displayed name" to hang my head over it & while mud was up the regime changed & voila, mud stuck
heh. things happen for a reason.

so when you coming out to play Mang?!?

ya know people have always said we would get along & ski alike & yet some how over 3+ years we have missed each other. WTF?
I'll show you mine (solitude & BC nearby) if you show me yours (mammy!)

Traded working today for a winter saturday shift!
great if the job dont change.

What would it take to wrench yor culinary skills from SoCal? I may have a very interesting opportunity.......

I don't feel comfortable there anymore although I haven't left, and I'm not likely to do so. I'd like to see it back the way it was, but we all know that's not happening. I'm trying very hard to stay optimistic and supportive of the Pen Monkeys and their magazine, but this online clubhouse is waay cooler.

Owen's doesn't have an ego problem, isn't bound to any corporate dick sucking, is flattered that we're here and open to our suggestions. He's the ultimate Stoke Master and he knows a thing or two about computers so I know every mindless word will be preserved for a long, LONG time.

Here's a culinary metaphor you might appreciate: Dog food tastes like schitt after you've been eating tenderloin.

Hey ACE-

Nice to see 'yer back. I missed a lot of it, too. I came back from a trip right in the middle of the chaos. It's sad, but Pmag as we knew it is gone.
Some of us are transitioning from the second to the third stage of loss and grieving. We've done the shock/denial stage thing and gone through the anger/depression second stage. I think I speak for more than a few who are in the beginnings of the "accepting that the relationship is over, and that we're going to be okay."
For me, the deletion of our history was a much bigger deal than I even imagined it would be. I didn't realize just how many times someone would find an old thread, repost it with their individual take, and intoduce a whole new crop of maggots to our history.
Sometimes someone would post something interesting, I'd click on the profile to review past posts and find a lot of depth to someone I hadn't previously noticed.
Countless mornings I'd wake up to some hysterical thread from the past that someone had found. It would remind me of just how much we had all shared, and tie me that much closer to the phenomenon of the powmag board.
All of that is gone. Contemplating the lost tens of thousands of man-hours is staggering.
The loss was further compounded for me since I was about to resurrect all of the thousands of thread topics which were deleted in the crash of '02. Faced with the reality of how many more thousands of posts were deleted last week, there's kinda no point now.
Because of what happened and the cavalier way it was "handled" by the caretakers of Pmag's past and future, I'll check into Pmag once-in-a-while but TGR is now my main home:

Hey guy! Good to see you around. I am here to stay and won't be going back to PM. This is what I am looking for, not that, espcially in light of the past two weeks.

Hope you are going to watch the game today. Should be a classic and Kenmoha' is going to get destroyed if they win...Any contact with my bro out there?

I hate primedia, love powder. But what really chaps my hide is the dispersion that has happened. I don't want to post on two boards, I want to talk and keep track to all my old friends on one board.

--I have been absent because I am old and hate change. This whole damn thing might be the end of frozen altogether. :(

I think it just reminded everyone that those PRIMEDIA forums are there for selfish corporate reasons, first and foremost. Hit counts sell advertising. I hope they canned that lil phuck DANIEL, he cost them a vibrant community not to mention deep-sixing their precious "hit count".

Finally registered over here. I came back to PM boards and everyone was gone, then I read up about all the shiite that went down. The thing that sucks the most about all of it is now everyone's dispersed between two boards now. Some people are going between them, but I'm with frozen. I don't want to have to follow two boards. I'm already 3000 posts behind Pinner and I can't catch up posting on two boards. ;)

I got my made maggot status last night at PM, which I figured I'd get since I was so close, but this feels more and more like home.

Thinking that quality beats quantity most days. I'm wit you guys. :D

Seems quite a few people are posting on both boards. Seems to me that during the big ruckus there was a huge amount of JONGS that are still unchekced. More noise in the place then even, where as this place isn't as busy but the stoke level is up a notch.

Take your pick I haven't posted since the exodus over on the P-mag fourm.

I don't see any reason to shun anyone. SM, DT et al., are cool in my book.

I still read that board daily and post occasionally, but I'm trying to make this place work for a few reasons I don't really feel like getting into right now (nothing bad, I just don't feel like typing that much).

Whatever you decide to do, ACE, at least check in.

i figure if they get rid of my brackets god wants me to continue to post over there...otherwise i'd rather lurk over here. the whole mood has changed over there, it's feeling more and more like every other message board on the internet....

not my bag.

edit: i'm sure minions are cool, and all....but i dunno why we wouldn't stay maggots. yeah...this isn't a mag forum, but the label has become much more than that. powdermag.com has no claim on the powdermaggots, they didn't create us.

powdermag.com was the poo, and we were the infestations of the poo. somewhere powdermag.com got confused and treated US like the poo. so....uh.....we turned into flies and..........er............ ok, taking that analogy too far, but you get the point.

it's also completely random to people not familiar w/ the board, less so than 'minions' i think.

Lets get this whole poo metaphore straight.

If pmag was the poo and the maggots were the errr maggots then primedia was the moron that wanted the maggots off of the poo so that the poo could stay nice and unmolested. Nothing quite like shiney maggotsless poo. Its breath taking...
